Speed Racer To Have Mobile Game

Glu Mobile Inc. will publish a mobile game based on this summers expected blockbuster SPEED RACER in late April, they announced Monday.

SPEED RACER, a live-action feature based on anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshidas television series, stars Emile Hirsch in the title role and Christina Ricci as Speeds girlfriend Trixie.

The mobile game will be the first title Glu will develop through its partnership with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution.

Player X & Virgin Mobile Sign Up for Mobile Games & Video Deal

Mobile media company Player X has been appointed by Virgin Mobile UK as its official aggregator for all its mobile games and video content. Player X will sign up all games, as well as video partners, on behalf of Virgin Mobile UK and execute all portal management including encoding, QA and deployment, as well as promoting the content across all platforms. Under the terms of the deal, Player X will source all entertainment and adult comedy mobile video content, as well as choosing games content for the Virgin Mobile portal from its range of content suppliers.

Hong Kong-based Artificial Life Inc., a provider of award-winning mobile 3G technology and applications, announced that it has signed a worldwide licensing deal with Paramount Digital Ent. to release two exclusive mobile games based on the multiple-Academy Award-winning movie BRAVEHEART and the recent box office hit SHOOTER.

The advanced mobile games will be of the action genre with real-time strategy features and enhanced 3D graphics. The games are scheduled for release and sale globally in early 2008 via on-deck telecom carriers and off-deck resellers.

Paramount Phones In Content Deal with Mumbai's Hungama

Mumbai-based mobile phone content provider Hungama Mobile has entered into an agreement with Paramount Digital Ent. for the distribution of interactive content in the Indian market.

Paramount Digital is part of the Paramount Pictures Corp, a unit of Viacom Inc.

"With extraordinary growth and more new mobile subscribers than in any other country, India presents a great opportunity for our rapidly expanding global business," Paramount Digital Entertainment VP (Asia Pacific) Pradeep Mittur said.

CBS Coaches Bonaduce Mobile & Web Toon

CBS Mobile announced plans for its first original animated program DANNY BONADUCE: LIFE COACH, which will premiere on the mobile video services of major U.S. wireless carriers on Nov. 12, with additional episodes released every two weeks. Voiced by Danny Bonaduce, the eight animated episodes, each three to five minutes in length, will also stream on www.cbs.com and through online partners across the CBS Audience Network.

Animated Knight Rider Roars onto Mobile Video

Mobile media company Player X and Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group have launched a series of mobile video animations based on the hit 1980s television show KNIGHT RIDER. Series one of KNIGHT RIDER: TURBO BOOST (THE ANIMATED SERIES) consists of six tongue-in-cheek, three-minute "Retrosodes" inspired by the classic show. Gameloft To Bring CSI To Mobile

Gameloft announced a worldwide multi-year, multi-game agreement with CBS Mobile to develop, publish and distribute games based on the hit television series CSI. The first game, based on CSI: MIAMI, has already launched in the U.S. and will be available in 140 countries in the months thereafter.

Kerner Mobile to Unveil 3-D Cinema at NASCAR Labor Day Weekend

N-Gage Lands Crash Bandicoot, Capcom Games

Nokia announced that they are teaming up with Vivendi Games Mobile to bring the CRASH BANDICOOT franchise to Nokia's new N-Gage mobile gaming platform launching this fall. In another big deal, Nokia and Capcom revealed that Capcom will be publishing games on N-Gage. Capcom is the first Japanese based publisher to commit to N-Gage, which makes its global debut later this year.

Aardman Expands Mobile Offerings With Ad-Supported Video

Aardman Animations is expanding its content lineup on mobile. The content will be added to operator 3's ad-supported video service, which is operated by Rhythm NewMedia. Aardman has been successful in this arena with ANGRY KID, which, at its peak, sold more than 10,000 video clips a day over mobile networks. Amp'd Mobile Closing Down

Mobile service provider Amp'd Mobile will shut down at the end of July following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing last month, reports THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

On Monday, July 23, 2007, Amp'd sent a text message to its customers saying it would disconnect their services the next day. Later, on its website, the company said it would be "potentially suspending U.S. operations on July 31."

Amp'd grew quickly with a youthful customer base, however in its bankruptcy filling it stated that nearly 46% of its 175,000 subscribers were not paying their bills.
