Target Entertainment Group Links Up With m4e AG

Target Entertainment Group has appointed m4e AG as the licensing sub-agent for PlayStation software IPs (intellectual properties) in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition, m4e subsidiary Telescreen will act as the sub-agent in Benelux.

4Kids Entertainment International Ltd. and the Royal Air Force have ended their agency relationship following a competitive tender process.

4Kids was awarded the licensing agency contract by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in October 2004 to help raise the profile of the Royal Air Force as a consumer brand. The agreement was thought to be the first partnership with the MOD of its kind.

Chapman Brings Licensing for Fifi and the Flowertots In-House

London: Target Entertainment Group has today announced it is coming to the end of its partnership agreement with Chapman Entertainment for the licensing rights to FIFI AND THE FLOWERTOTS. The licensing rights will revert back to Chapman Entertainment in May, although Target will continue to represent the property for international TV sales.

VIP Licensing Expands to New York

VIP, the Paris-based international licensing agent, announces the opening of their U.S. office in New York.

"Since we manage U.S. and North American rights of several licenses several licenses and the fact that we have gotten interest in several of our properties for cross territorial deals from U.S.-based licensees we thought it would be best to set up an agency in the U.S.," said Gregoire Parcollet, president.

This move is VIPs first step in the rollout of their international strategy.

After the success of 2008 (over 230 participants, 115 registered companies and 18 exhibitors), the second edition of the Kids Licensing Forum, an event entirely devoted to the children's and teenagers' content market in Europe, will be held on Thursday March 26 in Bologna.

The Forum will take place during the Bologna Children's Book Fair, scheduled from March 23-26, 2009. The Book Fair is devoted to the exchange of copyrights for children's and teenagers' contents and is attended by numerous professionals from the licensing sector.

FitzRoy Media has new licensing agent appointments in France, Brazil and The Philippines for its leading U.K. girls' brand SECRET WINGS, in addition to new licensing deals in two territories.

BLG, Brand Licensing Group of Sao Paulo, recently named licensing agents in Brazil for Secret Wings, have secured their first licensee for notebooks and stationery-related items, Sao Domingos. Fitz Roy's agents in The Philippines, Empire Int'l Merchandising Corp., has signed new licensee Asian Business Paper & Printing Corp. for notebooks and stationery-related items in the region.

WB Consumer Products Appoints License Agent for SE Asia

Warner Bros. Consumer Products has appointed Global Brands Group (GBG) as the exclusive consumer products licensing agent for the company in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Under the appointment, GBG will establish the licensing business for WBCP's portfolio of brands, including LOONEY TUNES, TOM & JERRY, HARRY POTTER, BATMAN, SUPERMAN and SCOOBY-DOO, among others.

The wide spectrum of licensing categories includes products such as publishing materials, apparel, accessories, toys, stationery, gifts, novelties, as well as branded food, personal care products, and promotion licensing.

New Sales for Franny's Feet

DECODE Enterprises, the distribution subsidiary of DHX Media, has scored further deals for its property FRANNY'S FEET (52x22 or 104x11) including sales into new territories.

Disney Channel U.K. has licensed season three and renewed its commitment to the first two seasons. In addition, Italy's RAI has picked up all three seasons with RTV Slovenia renewing season one and TV3 Catalunya in Spain and IRIB in Iran acquiring seasons one and two. The deal with RAI was brokered through Gary Kallenbach.

CPLG is New U.K. Rights Agency for Peanuts

European entertainment licensing agency CPLG was appointed by licensing and syndication company United Media as the U.K. rights agency for PEANUTS.

CPLG will strategically develop the brand in the U.K. through a carefully planned licensing programme, including gifts and novelties, stationery and further exploration of fashion and accessories ranges.

One of CPLG's immediate targets is the 60th Anniversary of PEANUTS in 2010. Using the stylised look of the brand, CPLG is developing a creative direction to inspire both new and existing licensees.

Dora's U.K. Licensing Partners Get Extension

Martin Yaffe, Worlds Apart and David Halsall are among a number of key partners of Nickelodeon's preschool property, DORA THE EXPLORER, that have renewed their contracts for a further term.

DORA was first broadcast on Nickelodeon in the U.K. in early 2000 and has since become established as a favorite among children. The licensing program has grown and broadened and DORA has deepened her distribution into all retail channels.

Family entertainment producer and distributor Chorion has signed a broadcast and licensing deal for its new property GASPARD & LISA with French broadcaster TF1.

TF1 recently acquired Chorion's OLIVIA at MIPCOM.

TF1 is planning a licensing and merchandising campaign to include a gift range, apparel, toys and games for GASPARD & LISA, which will sit alongside publishing and will launch following the show's TV debut in 2010.

Nordic and Eastern European licensing agency Kidz Ent./EEMC has been appointed to represent classic publishing property Miffy across that region.

Upscale retailer KappAhl started the licensing program exclusively last autumn with a range of apparel for children and young teens. The licensing program will then expand to cover categories such as toys, publishing, stationery, bags and accessories.
