International Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film concludes six-day virtual event that provided a global audience with live streaming access to more than 400 shorts and features; entire ITFS media library will stay available to accredited users until May 16, 2021.
Program highlights include feature film animation competition, screenings, film talks, and free live-streams; notable speakers include Oscar-nominated ‘Wolfwalkers’ director Tomm Moore and David Silverman, director of ‘Extinct.’
The planned live/online hybrid event makes decision to go all virtual due to continuing coronavirus restrictions; the program runs May 4-9 and will offer a new ITFS VR Hub accessible by VR headset or browser, with media library viewing extended until May 16.
Highlights for this year’s Stuttgart Animation Festival include the international competition for short films; German premieres of ‘Wolfwalkers’ and ‘Josee, the Tiger and the Fish;’ ‘Creating*Diversity and Pandemic Animation’ film compilations hitting on current social and political topics; and ‘Wonderwomen – Women in Games & Animation.’
The festival will kick-off its first hybrid edition with an integrated program for in person and remote participants; this year’s theme is ‘Creating*Diversity.’
Entries are being accepted for competition in five categories; submission deadline is December 1, 2020.
The first hybrid edition of Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film will take place both onsite at various venues and feature an extensive oneline program.
