Academy Partners With Lighthouse International On 10-Year Deal

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Lighthouse International, the premier non-profit dedicated to fighting vision loss, have concluded a new agreement that will provide an East Coast office for the Academy and a state-of-the-art theater for its extensive slate of film programs and screenings. The ten-year agreement will enable Lighthouse International to significantly upgrade and improve its theater and lobby area for screenings, exhibits, receptions and other events.

Ice Age 3 Now the International BO Champ

Fox and Blue Sky’s ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS is officially the international box office champ. ICE AGE 3 has now made $551.4 million outside the U.S., beating out the former champ Pixar’s FINDING NEMO, which earned $524.9 million overseas. Part of ICE AGE 3’s success is due to increased ticket prices for the 3-D presentation.

Disney/Pixar’s UP, which is also screening in 3-D, has just started its international run to big numbers. The animated critical favorite has made $54.1 million thus far overseas.

Following the screening, Hertzfeldt will speak about his films. In all they have won over a hundred awards, including Sundance Film Festival's Grand Jury Award.

Independent TV production company Calon TV has secured the distribution rights to its back catalogue of award-winning children's animation.

Studio manager Lynne Stockford has been appointed to manage international sales following the reversion of the distribution rights from S4C International

The list of programs includes such TV hits as the BAFTA-winning HANA'S HELPLINE, which is currently screened on Five; Welsh language classic SALI MALI; '80s favorite WIL CWAC CWAC, UNDER MILK WOOD and the feature film THE PRINCESS AND THE GOBLIN.

Xilam Boosts Sales Force with JC Media

French animation company Xilam has bolstered its international sales force by appointing JC Media (U.K.) to handle three English-speaking markets: the U.K., Ireland and South Africa.

JC Media, headed up by international TV heavyweight John Clutten, is a London-based boutique distributor specializing in the sale of children's programs, feature films and entertainment series throughout English-speaking territories. John Clutten will work closely with Xilam's Paris-based Sales Manager, Laurence Marty, who continues to handling international sales for the rest of the world.
