Both films each take home four awards; two MC cancelations notwithstanding, the visual effects community came together in force, packing the Beverly Hilton to celebrate winners in 25 categories and to honor Lynwen Brennan and Guillermo del Toro.
Nominees in 25 categories across film, TV, real-time, and special venue projects represent the top visual effects and animation work produced over the past year; ceremony format and venue yet to be revealed due to the ongoing pandemic.
Recipients of the Founders Awards and/or Designated Lifetime Members include VFX producer Mike Chambers, business/marketing consultant Rita Cahill, VFX historian Gene Kozicki, and cinematic director Richard Winn Taylor II, VES.
Newest Lifetime members and this year’s VES Founders Award recipient, along with yet to be announced VES Fellows, Honorary members and Hall of Fame inductees, to be recognized this fall.
This year’s class, honored for their exceptional achievements and sustained contributions to the industry, will be recognized at a special reception on October 2.
