Hercules Returns to Movie Theaters

With 300 brining sword-and-sandals flicks back in a big way, Millennium Films has begun development on a new Hercules feature film, VARIETY reports. Avi Lerner, Boaz Davidson, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short will produce. Davidson, Millennium's president of production, and Joe Gatta, the company's evp, developed the property ancient Greek myth. Sean Hood (HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION) will write the screenplay and no director has been hired. The plot details are being kept under wraps.

PBS KIDS and PBS KIDS GO! are offering loads of Halloween treats and surprises with spooky/kooky themed programming on Oct. 31, 2006 (check local listings). On PBS KIDS GO!, early elementary school kids may use division to help thwart Hackers holiday hijinks in a new CYBERCHASE episode and find out what it takes to make it to a giant pumpkin competition on POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER.

SCI FI Rolls Out Horror for Halloween

Featuring more than 100 hours of horror and sci-fi movies, miniseries and originals, SCI FI Channels Halloween marathon begins on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, and wraps up on Halloween night with a special six-hour GHOST HUNTERS LIVE special.

On Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 3:00 pm, SCI FI will air the horror film, ROOM 6. After a tragic accident, a young woman and a fellow victim struggle to track down their loved ones at a mysterious hospital. The feature stars Jerry OConnell and Christine Taylor.

NOGGIN Celebrates the Spookiest Day of the Year

NOGGIN, the commercial-free, educational preschool network from Nickelodeon, will premiere a spooky new episode of the original animated series PINKY DINKY DOO, as part of the network's annual Halloween marathon on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm (ET).

TELETOON Gives Kids What They Want For Halloween

TELETOON has a spooky lineup planned for October in celebration of Halloween as well as Canadas Thanksgiving Day.

On Friday the 13th at 4:00 pm (ET/PT), TELETOON will air Tim Burtons BEETLEJUICE, staring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis. To celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday, TELETOON will hold a movie marathon on Oct. 9. The schedule includes:

Rob Zombie to Helm Halloween Re-imagining

Dimension Films has announced that they will make a new HALLOWEEN movie with Rob Zombie (THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES) writing, directing and serving as a producer. Malek Akkad of Trancas Intl Films (HALLOWEEN H20: 20 YEARS LATER) will produce along with Andy Gould of Vision Ent. Group (THE DEVIL'S REJECTS, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES). Zombie will also serve as music supervisor. Miramax Films will co-finance the development with Dimension Films.

YTV Schedules Scares for Halloween

YTV has scheduled a host of scary programming to celebrate Halloween.

On Sunday, Oct. 30, the channel will be hosting a Halloween Dress Rehearsal with a 13-hour marathon of Halloween-themed shows.

JIMMY NEUTRON: PHANTOM OF RETROLAND will air at 8:00 am (also airing Monday, Oct. 31 at 8:00 am). For Nicks history report, he tells about the Phantom of Retroland, a monster who lives at the local amusement park. In the interest of science, Jimmy sets out to disprove this urban tale with a little help from Carl and Sheen.

The Grudge Wins Halloween Box Office

Sonys horror hit, THE GRUDGE, led the box office chart for the second week in a row, scaring up $21.8M over the Halloween weekend ended Oct. 31, 2004, on its way to $70.6M. Universals Ray Charles biopic, RAY, debuted at number two with $20M, while Lions Gates SAW bowed in third place with $18.2M. DreamWorks 3D-animated SHARK TALE slipped to fourth with $7.5M and a whopping cume of $146.8M. Miramaxs SHALL WE DANCE? finished fifth with $6.2M and $33.9M.

30-Second Bunnies Celebrate Halloween on STARZ!

As part of its horror movie line-up in celebration of Halloween, STARZ! will be hosting the STARZ! Hare-Raising Halloween Marathon, featuring the 30-Second Bunnies Theatre Troupe. The marathon begins at 9:00 pm ET/PT on Oct. 30, 2004, and runs through midnight of Oct. 31. Angry Alien Prods award-winning bunnies with re-enact SCREAM, FREDDY VS. Hamtaro Hits Burger King for Halloween

Characters from ShoPro Entertainment's series HAMTARO will be featured as Halloween toys at Burger King restaurants. The toys will be available in North America from Oct. 6 to Nov. 2, 2003. This promotion will coincide with a special Halloween episode of the series airing in the U.S. on Cartoon Network Oct. 21 at 8:00 pm and Oct. 30, 2003 at 8:30 pm.

Mainframe Completes CGI Scary Godmother Special Using SOFTIMAGEXSI

Vancouver-based Mainframe Entertainment, Inc., a leading creator of computer animation, has digitized the last pixel on it's first one-hour primetime special, SCARY GODMOTHER HALLOWEEN SPOOKTAKULAR, scheduled to air on Canada's YTV network this coming Halloween, October 31, 2003. Mainframe CEO, Rick Mischel, said this is the first time an animation company has made a television special using feature-film quality SOFTIMAGEXSI software. The show is based on the popular comics and children's books by the award-winning artist and writer, Jill Thompson, who also served as the art director.
