London-based production startup Taost Entertainment has acquired the Chinese distribution rights to upcoming 3DCG animated film from Original Force, directed by Chris Jenkins, premiering in North American theaters August 24.
GFM Animation has partnered with Larry Kasanoff’s Threshold Entertainment and Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment on the project, based on the most prolific TV show in history for finding vocal superstars, with pre-production starting this year and CG animation starting 2024.
The studio took over the troubled production that began life as ‘Blazing Samurai,’ and with directors Rob Minkoff (‘The Lion King’) and Mark Koetsier (‘Minions’), working from only an animatic, concept art, and some 3D models, brought the 3DCG film to a rich and colorful completion.
Zayn Malik, Sophie Okonedo, and Dylan Llewellyn will lend their voices in undisclosed roles, while Sione Ashley voices Rose and Mo Gilligan stars as Beckett, a pampered and selfish cat that takes his life for granted.
