Ghostmilk Brings Energy to Student Price Card Spot

Ghostmilk recently wrapped production on a new spot, entitled GET MORE, SAVE MORE, for Student Price Card and ad agency The Reverb Group. In charge of all aspects of the commercial, Ghostmilk provided initial concept, style, design, script, animation, voice over and post.

Gnomon Workshop Releases Concept Design DVDs

The Gnomon Workshop has released four new training DVDs by concept designer Feng Zhu. Focused on the traditional and digital techniques of the concept design industry, these four titles contain more than eight hours of instruction. Feng's clients include Lucasfilm, Disney, Blur Studio, Electronic Arts, GT Interactive, Origin Systems, Microsoft, Film Roman, Universal, Warner Bros. and Sierra. Feng has been teaching production design at Gnomon for two years.

Eden FX Introduces New CG Creatures to Enterprise

Visual effects shop Eden FX continues its role as the primary provider of CG work for the syndicated Paramount Television series ENTERPRISE, which launched its third season Sept. 10 at 8:00 pm on UPN. Eden FX will be providing more of its Emmy-Award winning vfx, including two new, entirely computer-generated creatures.

Art Institute of Tampa Offers BFA in Animation

The Art Institute of Tampa, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design, has received approval from The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to offer a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design, media arts & animation, multimedia & Web design, interior design or game art & design, as well as the Associate of Arts in graphic design or multimedia & Web design. The new institution will hold classes for the first time in January 2004. The school will be located at 4401 North Himes Avenue in Tampa, Florida.

Blur Lands Robotic Hand to Sirius

Blur Studio recently provided CG TV spots and a billboard campaign for satellite radio service Sirius, working with Miami ad agency Crispin, Poter & Bogusky. The Venice, California-based design and animation studio provided everything from storyboarding and concept design through title design, 3D animation and final post. In addition, Blur produced artwork for a national billboard campaign.

Oegon3D Offers New Design and Visualization Class

Oregon3D Inc., The Center for Visualization Technologies, has scheduled a two-day seminar devoted to Discreet's 3ds max as an effective design and visualization tool for the weekend of June 14-15, 2003. Taught by Discreet-certified instructor Gary M. Davis, this class will focus on importing models efficiently, creating/applying materials, lighting techniques (including global illumination) and rendering out photo-realistic or technical (illustrative) images. 3D modeling and animation will also be discussed in respect to augmenting third party models and showcasing a product or building.

Discreet Offers Particle Flow Tool for 3ds max Subscribers

Discreet has made available a new Particle Flow Extension software for 3ds max customers registered under the Discreet Subscription Program, a component of the Autodesk Subscription Program. Discreet subscribers can use the new tool integrated into 3ds max software to create realistic fountains, fog, snow, splashes, contrails, explosions and other environmental effects. Game Developers Choice Noms Announced

The recipients will be announced at a ceremony on March 6, 2003, during the Game Developers Conference (GDC), March 4-8 in San Jose, Calif. Produced by the Gama Network, the GDC is the largest annual event exclusively for game development professionals. Dosch Design Releases Two Libraries Of High Dynamic Range Images

Dosch Design has released the first two titles of its newly created product line, Dosch HDRI (High Dynamic Range Images). Both Dosch HDRI: Nature and Dosch HDRI: Skies contains 56 HDR-images, which are presented on three CDs. The new product line offers the user a comprehensive library of HDRI effects for use in 3D design and animation applications. V-12 Commercials Expands, Signs Director Linzi Knight

Based on the success of live-action spots for AT&T, Verizon, PBS and others, Studio V-12 has recently launched a separate commercial division to handle the growing workload. Continuing its expansion, V-12 announces the addition of director Linzi Knight. Knight joins the current V-12 roster of Juan Delcan, V-12 Co-Founder David Hwang and Daryl Goodrich. After training in Toronto as a graphic designer, Knight spent five years pursuing design opportunities in Europe where she worked in top European design firms like Grapus in Paris and Meta Design in Berlin.

Humunculus Spotted In Venice

Broadcast design industry veteran Saam Gabbay has launched Humunculus, a new broadcast design and animation company in Venice, California. Humunculus provides audiovisual content for television networks, ad agencies, entertainment companies and major corporations. A 1992 graduate of UC Santa Barbara, Saam taught courses at UCSB on Adobe Photoshop and Premiere and helped to create the university's digital media lab.

Phactory Productions And Ultraviolet Merge

New York-based 3D design and animation company Phactory Productions, Inc., has merged with broadcast design studio Ultraviolet to create UV Phactory. The newly formed creative solutions studio offers 2D and 3D design and animation, live-action production and strategic design solutions for advertising agencies and the broadcast and cable communities. The company has already begun work on a host of jobs including projects for Miramax, HBO, TBS and The Sci-Fi Channel. UV Phactory will operate under the management team of Scott Sindorf, Damijan Saccio and Jeff Linnell.

Lisa Cleff Joins Goodspot As VP Of Sales And Marketing

Goodspot Design and Goodspot Editorial has appointed Lisa Cleff to the position of vice president of sales and marketing for both divisions. Cleff joins newly appointed executive producer Mandy Martin, with whom she enjoyed a successful working relationship during their time together at design studio Attik/San Francisco. Prior to joining Goodspot, Cleff served as director of sales and marketing for R!OT Design in Manhattan. Her entree into the world of broadcast design came during her three years as U.S. director of business development at Attik.
