EA Sports NHL 09 Predicts Boston Bruins Will Win The Stanley Cup

April 13, 2009 -- The Boston Bruins will win the Stanley Cup for the first time in 37 years, defeating original six rival Chicago Blackhawks in a six game series, according to the official EA SPORTS simulation of the 2009 NHL playoffs on the award-winning NHL 09 videogame.

Meet the Oscars, Chicago

For the first time, Oscar fans in Chicago will be able to hold an actual Oscar statuette and have their photo taken at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' "Meet the Oscars, Chicago." The exhibition will open Friday, February 13, at The Shops at North Bridge on Michigan Avenue, and run through Sunday, February 22, the night of the 81st Academy Awards presentation. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. Chicago is the only city to host a "Meet the Oscars" exhibition this year.

NY Comic Con Spreads to Chicago in 2010

Reed Exhibitions has announced the launch of Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2), which will take place April 16-18, 2010 at McCormick Place in downtown Chicago. The new show will be structured in the spirit of New York Comic Con (NYCC), which was launched by Reed Exhibitions in 2006 and saw attendance grow from 33,000 in its first year to 67,000 in 2008, making it the fastest growing comic and pop culture event in the U.S.

WALL-E, Chicago 10 Nab Editing Nominations

WALL-E got a nomination for Best Edited Feature Film (Comedy or Musical) from the American Cinema Editors, who announced their nominations on Monday. And in the Documentary category, rotoscoped animated documentary CHICAGO 10 nabbed a nomination.

Winners will be revealed during ACE's 59th annual black-tie awards ceremony on Sunday, February 15, 2009 in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Waltz, Chicago 10 Get WGA Award Nods

WALTZ WITH BASHIR and CHICAGO 10 both received nominations for Documentary Screenplay from the Writers Guild of America for outstanding achievement in writing for the screen during the 2008 season, according to the trades.

Winners will be announced at the 2009 Writers Guild Awards held on Saturday, February 7, 2009, at simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles.

WALTZ WITH BASHIR was written by Ari Folman from Sony Pictures Classics and CHICAGO 10 was written by Brett Morgen from Roadside Attractions.

Chicago 10 To Premiere As Independent Lens Season Opener

The year was 1968. A war in a foreign land was tearing people apart, and the president's approval rating was at an all-time low. The country was divided. Many felt America was lost, without a moral compass. And young Americans took to the streets to change the world. During the 40th anniversary of this pivotal year in world history, CHICAGO 10 will have its broadcast premiere on Wednesday, October 22, at 9 p.m. as the season opener of the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning PBS series INDEPENDENT LENS, hosted by Terrence Howard.

Chicago 10 Makes L.A. Premiere on June 30

CHICAGO 10 will be making its Los Angeles premiere on June 30, 2007, at 8:30 pm in California Plaza as part of the Los Angeles Film Festival. The screening is free and is outdoors, so attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner. The animated documentary follows the protests surrounding the 1968 Democratic Convention and the trial of the Chicago 7. The film features a soundtrack from Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, Eminem, Rage Against The Machine and Merle Haggard. The voice cast includes Nick Nolte, Mark Ruffalo, Liev Shreiber, Roy Scheider, Jeffrey Wright, Hank Azaria and Dylan Baker.

Young Chicago Critics 2007

The Chicago International Children's Film Festival is now accepting applications for Young Chicago Critics, the premiere film criticism and production summer camp for Chicago kids 7-14. Due to overwhelming response from previous summers, it has now expanded its acclaimed program to two sessions to accommodate a full 150 children. This year's camp takes place at Facets Multi-Media (1517 W. Fullerton) June 20 - 29 and July 9 - 18.

Yowza Digital Helps Animate Chicago 10 Documentary

Toronto-based animation studio Yowza Digital Inc. recreated the infamous riot that erupted during the 1968 Democratic National Convention for the new documentary film CHICAGO 10. Written and directed by Brett Morgen (THE KID STAYS IN THE PICTURE, ON THE ROPES), CHICAGO 10 was chosen as the opening night film at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.

EA Starts Up Development Studio in Chicago

Electronic Arts put on line today (Oct. 25, 2006) a new studio in downtown Chicago to focus on next generation videogames. Housed at 215 West Ohio Street is the development team is best known for the hit EA SPORT Fight Night franchise. The group is working on three state-of-the-art games for the PlayStation3 and Xbox 360, including the hip-hop lifestyle game, DEF JAM: ICON, as well as a licensed title and a new intellectual property in the fighting videogame genre.

Chicago Fest to Close with Polar Express

The Chicago International Film Festival, the oldest competitive film festival in North America, will bring 111 feature films and 54 short films from 44 countries to Chicago, Oct. 7-21. The 2004 Festival received more than 1,500 submissions and includes two world premieres, 13 North American premieres and 22 U.S. premieres. Presented by Bank One, this year's program will feature more films, new venues, bigger panel discussions and a showcase of directors the festival has championed in celebration of its 40th Anniversary.
