BabyTV Launches in India

BabyTV has extending its reach over South Asia by launching on Sun Direct, the fastest growing DTH platform in India with more than three million subscribers.

The channel is available on the basic bouquet along with other Fox channels including Fox TV (FX) and FoxCrime. BabyTV is already available in the region via B Net in the Maldives and Dialog TV in Sri Lanka.

BabyTV is the world's first 24-hour commercial-free channel for infants, toddlers, and their parents, featuring developmental content created in collaboration with childhood experts.

Giorgio Stock has been promoted to exec VP and managing director, Disney Channels, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and will lead The Walt Disney Company's portfolio of kid-focused, family inclusive television channels including Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, Disney XD and Cinemagic, in the territory. He will also serve as a Disney representative on the board of SRTL, Disney's joint venture with RTL Group.

Philippines the Next Stop for Sci Fi's Global Domination

NBC Universal Global Networks will launch Sci Fi into the Philippines on March 13, 2009. The move is part of NBCU Global Network's continued channels expansion in the Asia Pacific region and central to the company's growth objective, led by Roma Khanna, President, Global Networks & Digital Initiatives.

NBCU Global Networks has appointed Solar Entertainment Corporation to be its channel distributor as well as its advertising sales representative for Sci Fi in the Philippines.

Sci Fi and Universal Channels Launch in Hong Kong

NBC Universal Global Networks has launched Universal Channel and Sci Fi Channel on now TV in Hong Kong in January 2009.

The move is part of NBCU Global Network's ongoing channels expansion in Asia and central to the company's objective, led by Roma Khanna, President, Global Networks & Digital Initiatives, to grow to over 100 channels internationally by 2010.

Universal Channel (now TV channel 522) and Sci Fi (now TV channel 124) are available with traditional Chinese subtitling.

Jetix Acquires Total Drama Island For U.K. Channel

Jetix Europe has signed a deal with Cake Distribution to broadcast top rated U.S. tween sitcom, TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND, on its U.K. channel.

TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND, created by Jennifer Pertsch and Tom McGillis and produced by Fresh TV, blends event programming and cartoon comedy with a reality TV elimination format. The TV series, which has been a huge ratings success in the U.S., is the first animated, reality show to appear on Jetix's U.K. channel and follows other recent successful acquisitions including DINOSAUR KING and POKEMON DP BATTLE DIMENSION.

Qubo Channel Expanding Presence in NY, Philly and D.C.

ION Media Networks and RCN Corporation will launch Qubo Channel, the TV and online entertainment service for children, in New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.

Qubo Channel becomes the second ION Media Networks channel available to RCN's major market systems, joining ION Television, which is already carried in New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC.

KidsCo Now Part Of Spanish Pay TV Platform

KidsCo, the joint venture channel owned by media companies NBC Universal, Cookie Jar and Corus Ent., is to become part of the Spanish pay-TV platform, IMAGENIO, following an agreement with local content provider, Teuve.

The new distribution agreement will see KidsCo’s children’s channel available as part of IMAGENIO’s family package as channel 55.

The agreement will see KidsCo’s premier children’s and family programming available via the pay TV channel with immediate effect.

JimJam Continues To Spread The Global Magic

Global preschool channel JimJam, a joint venture between HIT Ent. and Chellomedia, is set to launch on the Netherlands' largest cable operator Ziggo, as well as expand into Russia and Bulgaria in July.

The new Netherlands launch will take JimJam, the first dedicated preschool channel in the region, into approximately 400,000 additional households.
