Paramount and Nickelodeon bring on the Australian production company for the first of 3 upcoming films being developed at Avatar Studios based on the ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ and ‘The Legend of Korra’ universe.
Lauren Montgomery, a seasoned vet of the original ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ series, is set to direct the first film, yet unnamed, under the Avatar Studios banner.
Nickelodeon and iHeartRadio’s companion podcast continues its exploration of the Avatarverse; hosted by voice actors Janet Varney and Dante Basco, the new weekly episodes kick off May 3.
The age appropriate, Asian and Indigenous cast for Netflix’s adaptation of Nickelodeon’s beloved animated series includes Gordon Cormier as Aang, the eponymous Last Airbender, Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko.
Series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will helm the new venture; the studio’s first project, an animated feature, is set to begin production this year.
