FINDING NEMO took home three prizes at the 2003 DVD Exclusive Awards, held Dec. 2 at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. Six hundred academy members, who are filmmakers and TV and DVD producers, judge the outstanding releases of the year.
The Buena Vista Home Entertainment release of the record-breaking Disney/Pixar animated feature won for menu design; games and interactives; and deleted scenes, outtakes and bloopers.
Dec. 5, 2003 is the deadline to enter daytime programming for 2003-2004 Daytime Emmy Awards consideration, as well as to register to vote in the awards contest and to join the academy in order to vote in the daytime competition. Applications must be received at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences headquarters in New York City for the daytime awards. Members of ATAS in N. Hollywood maybe be eligible to vote in the daytime contest, but must register with NATAS in New York.
The winners for the 2003 British Academy Children's Film and Television Awards in association with the LEGO Co. were announced on Nov. 30, 2003. THE BOB THE BUILDER SPECIAL: A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER took home the prize for Best Animation. The special was produced by HOT Animation, HIT Ent. and the BBC and features music by Sir Elton John.
Finalists in the nine of 12 categories of competition for the Australian Effects and Animation Festival (AEAF) Awards have been announced. Winners in each category will be announced at the AEAF Awards presentation, Dec. 9, 2003 at 7:00 pm. AEAF will be held at the Sydney Convention Center, Darling Harbor from December 7-10.
All finalists entries will be screened during the Awards ceremony in an evening of animation and vfx entertainment

The 8th annual 2003 Angelus Awards Student Film Festival has selected 21 finalists from around the world for their achievements in filmmaking, animation and documentary. The students were chosen from more than 470 submissions, and were honored October 3, 2003 at an awards luncheon in Hollywood.

The 41st Shark Awards at Kinsale took place on September 13, 2003. Framestore CFC landed both the Best Animation award for Audis DRINK LIKE A FISH and the Best Production/Special Effects award for Johnnie Walkers FISH. This follows up Framestores win last year for Best Post-Production on Levi's ODYSSEY spot.

Hank Azaria will be awarded this year's Primetime Emmy Award for animation voice over performance for his work on THE SIMPSONS as the bartender character, Moe.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced on August 18, 2003, the selected animation categories winners of the 55th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Juried awards do not have nominations and are selected by members of ATAS' animation peer group, which may choose more than one winner in a category or none.

In late May, application forms were sent to more than 850 companies and individuals within the sci-tech community both in the United States and abroad.
Venice, California-based Blur Studio has created the vintage Atari video game-looking graphics for this year's Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, the only awards show dedicated to kids' favorite movies, music, TV and sports. As part of the package, Blur produced a main title, headers, monitor fills, lower-thirds, as well as other elements.
The Angelus Student Awards has extended its deadline to July 15, 2003. The awards affirm films that uphold and communicate the values of tolerance, respect for diversity in the human community, peacemaking and dialogue in lieu of gratuitous violence, respect for human life, equality and dignity in relationships and hope and the possibility of change over nihilism and despair. Festival entries are open to all college undergraduate and graduate film, video, doc, animation and media students.
Film director Ridley Scott, whose BLADE RUNNER and ALIEN were acclaimed for their ground-breaking VFX, has launched The Ridley Scott Awards to find Britain's best new creative talent in the field. They are open to anyone not employed in the business who dreams of a career in film, television or computer games.

Not only did THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS nab best movie at the 2003 MTV Movie Awards, held May 31, 2003 at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, but Peter Jackson's second installment of the blockbuster Tolkien trilogy took three more prestigious awards, including best virtual performance by Gollum. TWO TOWERS also earned best action sequence for the Battle of Helms Deep, deepening WETA Digital's enormous stature among leading VFX studios, as well as best on-screen team (Elijah Wood, Sean Astin and Gollum.
Vancouver-based Mainframe Entertainment has produced the logo, branding, and original animation segments for this year's superhero-themed MTV Movie Awards. The work includes category introductions, as well as opening and closing segments for the awards show, which will air June 5, 2003. Typically, using a live-action/design combination for the awards gala, this year MTV decided to go with a custom CGI animated approach in response to the growing number of superhero-inspired films. Promotional spots for the awards also feature animation.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences mailed entry forms on May 27, 2003 for the 2003 Scientific and Technical Awards to more than 850 companies and individuals, including past winners, within the sci-tech community both in the United States and abroad. All entry applications must be submitted to the Academy no later than Friday, August 1, 2003.
"We want to begin compiling a list of achievements that can be considered by the Scientific and Technical Awards Committee for recognition at the 76th Academy Awards," said committee chair Richard Edlund.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has selected 11 students from 9 colleges and universities around the country in the 30th Annual Student Academy Awards competition. The winning students, chosen from three regional competitions will be flown to Los Angeles to participate in a week of industry-related activities and social events that will culminate June 8, 2003 with the awards presentation ceremony at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

The George Foster Peobody Awards has announced its call for entries for the 2002 Peabody Awards, honoring outstanding achievement in electronic media. Programs produced for intital broadcast/webcast during the calendar year of 2002 are eligible for consideration. Entries may be submitted by any person or organization wishing to direct the attention of the Peabody Board to a meritorious program, series, individual or organization.
In response to the Motion Picture Academy moving up its dates for the Oscars, the Orange British Academy Film awards will take place on February 15, 2004, instead of February 8, as originally announced. The BAFTAs have been moved so they would not clash with the Oscar nominees lunch scheduled for February 9 in Los Angeles.
