Autodesk Acquires Assets of REALVIZ

Autodesk Inc. today announced that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of REALVIZ S.A., the privately held developer of image-based content creation software. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Autodesk Developers Win Oscar

Autodesk announced today that developers of its Autodesk Maya Fluid Effects System have been awarded Technical Achievement Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Maya Fluid Effects System allows digital artists to create realistic animation of liquids and gases, using novel simulation techniques for accuracy and speed, as well as a unique scripting language for working with volumetric data.

Autodesk Reduces Price for Maya Unlimited

Autodesk announced today they are lowering the price for Autodesk Maya Unlimited 3D modeling, animation, and rendering software.

Autodesk also announced Maya 2008 Extension 2 software, which provides enhanced creative control over polygon modeling and UV texturing, as well as significant improvements to the Maya Muscle tool set.

Maya Unlimited contains everything offered in Maya Complete software, plus innovations such as Maya Fluid Effects, Maya nCloth, Maya Hair, Maya Fur, and Maya Live.

Pricing for Autodesk Maya Complete remains unchanged.

Autodesk Launches New Versions of Visual Effects and Finishing Systems

Autodesk announced the 2008 releases of the Inferno, Flame and Flint visual effects systems, as well as the Fire and Smoke editing/finishing systems. These new releases are offered on Linux-based PCs, making Autodesk's visual effects and editing/finishing products more accessible to both high-end and mid-range markets. The new releases deliver open file systems, allowing for improved interoperability with third-party applications, as well as 100% clip compatibility across the Autodesk visual effects and editing/finishing pipeline.
