Filmmakers Steve Martino, Richard Starzak, Mark Burton, Charlie Kaufman, Duke Johnson, Pete Docter, Jonas Rivera, Pete Sohn and Denise Ream react to the news of the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Award nominations.
Paramount Pictures and Starburns Industries’ ‘Anomalisa,’ Disney and Pixar Animation Studio’s ‘The Good Dinosaur’ and ‘Inside Out,’ 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios’ ‘The Peanuts Movie,’ and Aardman’s ‘Shaun the Sheep Movie’ are nominated for Best Animated Feature.
Taking three years to produce, the crew at Starburns Industries crafted 1,261 faces and 1,000 props for the Charlie Kaufman feature; the final cut has 118,089 frames of handmade animation.
This year’s Best Animated Feature nominations include Starburns Industry’s ‘Anomalisa,’ Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’ and ‘The Good Dinosaur,’ Aardman’s ‘Shaun the Sheep the Movie,’ and Blue Sky’s ‘The Peanuts Movie.’
Nominees for Best Feature include ‘Anomalisa,’ ‘Beasts of No Nation,’ ‘Carol,’ ‘Spotlight’ and ‘Tangerine.’
Sixteen features -- from director Charlie Kaufman’s ‘Anomalisa’ to Studio Ghibli’s ‘When Marnie Was There’ are submitted for consideration in the Animated Feature Film category for the 88th Academy Awards.
The 88th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. PT at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Stop-motion animated feature directed by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson opens in limited release December 30, 2015.
