Based on the books by Benji Davies, ‘The Storm Whale Trilogy’ follows the adventures of a young boy who finds a whale and brings it home.

Sneak Peeks, full episodes, a key cast announcement, appearances by Oscar-winning producers Roy Conli and Clark Spencer, and Disney Animation CCO Jennifer Lee’s acceptance of the Festival’s Honorary Cristal Award highlighted the studio’s special presentation this past Friday.

Audiences enjoyed the first episode and trailer of the new CGI animated series, a co-production with Mikros Animation IP, France télévisions, and Tencent Video, that follows a gang of five unlikely heroes, thirsty for adventure and escape from their mundane life on a farm.

Under the exclusive multiyear cross-studio agreement, the award-winning creator, producer, and director will develop, create, and produce original animated programming for both studios; the announcement was made at a Studio Focus presentation at Annecy 2022.

As Sr. VP/GM at Disney Television Animation, she has overseen the development of current animated slate, making the studio home to a notable roster of creative talent while launching initiatives promoting and advancing diversity and inclusion.

Created entirely in Unreal Engine, the short debuts at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 13; the story continues in an upcoming video game, episodic series, and AR/VR projects that will use the same digital assets created for the feature.
