animation4kids! is a one-off kids program of recent animation. Lycette Bros. are compiling a selection animations to be screened twice daily for the duration of the 2007 Awesome Arts Festival in Perth.

Animations suitable for children of all ages will considered. It envisaged that the selected animations will utilise many varied styles and techniques, and will be up to 5 minutes in length. Blue-Zoo To Do New Animations for The Basil Brush Show

Award-winning animation studio Blue-Zoo Prods. has been commissioned by RDF Media-owned The Foundation and Entertainment Rights, to create 65 animated shorts for the sixth series of THE BASIL BRUSH SHOW for CBBC.

The animations will place the famous fox in adventurous situations, such as surfing, tango dancing and flying through space, while sharing a joke with the audience.

Blue Plum Animation Festival 2007

The Blue Plum Animation Festival is part of the Blue Plum Arts and Music Festival which, is held in the downtown area of Johnson City. Entries are judged by a panel of industry professionals, and cash awards are given for the best animated shorts. This year's third annual Blue Plum Animation Festival will be held on June 1 and 2, 2007.

Deuce Bigalow Director to Helm Shrek 4

DEUCE BIGALOW: MALE GIGOLO director Mike Mitchell is in talks to helm DreamWorks Animation's SHREK 4, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. The script, which deals with the reason why Shrek left the land of ogres to live by himself in the swamp, was originally written by Tim Sullivan and was rewritten by Josh Klausner.

DreamWorks Animation's Jeffrey Katzenberg, Bill Damaschke, Kristine Belson and Chris Kuser are shepherding.

Cars Drives Off with Producer's Guild Win

Darla K. Anderson won the race for Producer of the Year Award Animated Film awarded by The Producer's Guild of America for her work on Walt Disney Pictures/Pixar Animation's CARS. The awards were handed out Jan. 20, 2007, during the 18th Annual Producers Guild Awards at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

CARS beat out FLUSHED AWAY, HAPPY FEET, ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN and MONSTER HOUSE.

PGA Announces Animated Feature Noms

The Producer's Guild of America has issued nominations for Producer of the Year Award Animated Film. In the running is Darla K. Anderson for Walt Disney Pictures/Pixar Animation's CARS. For DreamWorks Animation's FLUSHED AWAY, the nominees are Cecil Kramer and Peter Lord. Doug Mitchell, George Miller and Bill Miller are up for Warner Bros.' HAPPY FEET. A nom for 20th Century Fox Animation's ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN goes to Lori Forte. Steve Starkey and Jack Rapke share noms for Sony's MONSTER HOUSE.

Aardman Animations Shorts Screening

MTV Networks International (MTVNI) debuted its first animated series of made-for-mobile shorts, WULFFMORGENTHALER. A co-production between MTVNI and the "Danish Duo" Mikael Wulff and Anders Morgenthaler, the series of 20 short animations is inspired by the famous WULFFMORGENTHALER comic strips of the same name. Aardman’s Big Jeff To Be Shown On MTV2

MTV2 has joined up with Aardman Animations to broadcast a series of shorts featuring the character Big Jeff.

MTV2 is MTV Networks U.K. & Irelands channel dedicated to guitar-based music. The 10 BIG JEFF films range from 90 to 180 seconds in duration and will be scattered amongst the MTV2 schedule from mid June. The animations were created, written and directed by Aardmans Tom Parkinson and exec produced by Miles Bullough, Pete Lord and Dave Sproxton.

Craft Animations Releases First 3ds Max Plug-In Suite

Craft Animations releases its first commercial plug-in suite for 3ds max, Craft Camera Tools, which will be publicly presented at the official release of 3ds max 7, Oct. 14, in Stockholm, Sweden. Craft Camera Tools is used by animators in realtime to steer cameras with a joystick or keyboard in the 3ds max viewport. Four types of cameras and two help tools, are available:

Morphink Releases New Web Authoring Tool

MorphInk has announced their commercial release of MorphInk 2.0, a Web-animation authoring tool. MorphInk 2.0 enables the creation and publishing of high-resolution animations playing at high frame rates (up to 30 frames per second) without increase in file size. In addition to its own ANC animation format, MorphInk 2.0 also supports other Web formats. MorphInk animations can be converted to Flash or Animated GIF. The MorphInk 2.0 package includes a stand-alone player, a Java player and ActiveX/Plug-In Web players.

TechnologyHelp, Inc. has completed a second round of funding and officially changed its name to Cinemetrix. The new round of financing came from Vanguard Atlantic, a New York-based venture capital firm. Terms of that transaction were not disclosed. Truespace 3D Now Supports Flash

Caligari Corporation, a provider of 3D authoring technologies, has announced that its 3D modeling and animation package trueSpace 5.1 now supports Macromedia Flash. This is in addition to Caligari's existing support for Macromedia Shockwave3D, Director8.5 and Viewpoint Experience Technology. Web developers can now convert their trueSpace5.1 objects (including NURBS) and scenes to Flash format, including all trueSpace geometry, materials, lights, views and even advanced animation techniques such as script animations, bones and key-frame animations.
