ER Secures Distribution Deal For New Episodes Of Transformers Animated

Entertainment Rights has secured distribution rights to the latest 13 episodes for the new TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED series, bringing the total number of episodes of the series currently available to 42 (42x22). The announcement follows on the heels of Cartoon Network in the U.S. having confirmed the commission of an additional 13 episodes for delivery in spring 2009.

Record Participation At MIPCOM 2008

The 24th MIPCOM recorded its highest attendance figure of all time, driven notably by an increase in attendance from the "METRIC" countries and regions (Middle East, Turkey, Russia, India and China), as well as Ukraine.

At the close of the market on October 17, MIPCOM 2008 totaled 13,588 participants, an increase of 1.6% over the 13,371 industry professionals who attended in 2007. A total of 4,519 companies from 103 countries registered, of which 1,779 were exhibitors. The number of international buyers grew by 7.2%, from 4,242 in 2007 to 4,573 this year.

Funny Face, Huntik Win MIPCOM Licensing Challenge

FUNNY FACE from Renegade Animation and HUNTIK: SECRETS AND SEEKERS, produced by Rainbow S.p.A., headquartered in Loreto, Italy have won the 5th Annual MIPCOM Junior Licensing Challenge, an international competition for new TV properties.

Competing against entries from Italy, France, South Korea, Spain and elsewhere, FUNNY FACE and HUNTIK were selected for having the highest licensing potential by a panel of judges that included representatives of Simon & Schuster, Entertainment Rights, WNET and Marathon Animation.

Jimmy Two Shoes Takes Top Spot in MIPCOM Jr. Screenings

Jetix Europe's JIMMY TWO SHOES was the most watched entry at this year's MIPCOM Jr. screenings. Out of 1,143 entries, JIMMY TWO SHOES, produced by Breakthrough Ent. for Jetix Europe, was the most requested show by buyers.

Marc Buhaj, SVP of Jetix Europe said, "This is the first time Jetix has achieved top ranking at the screenings. It is testament to a great team who are producing a great show. We're really excited that our new focus on comedy has proven to be so popular with our peers and we're confident our viewers will enjoy Jimmy as much as the industry does."

VIZ Media Showcases Anime For All Ages At MIPCOM

VIZ Media and VIZ Media Europe, the Paris-based subsidiary of VIZ Media, will showcase a variety of hot anime properties at the 2008 MIPCOM show in Cannes, France, October 13-17 at the Palais des Festivals. VIZ Media will be located in Booth A0-12.

Shelldon To Make qubo A Greener Place

Entertainment Rights has secured a U.S. broadcast partner for the new CGI animated television series, SHELLDON. Through the deal, SHELLDON will be seen on qubo's children's programming block, which currently airs on NBC, Telemundo, and ION TV networks. The 13x30 series, which focuses on environmental themes, targets kids ages 4-8 and is scheduled to premiere in spring 2009.

DECODE Enterprises has made a number of MIPCOM sales for new preschool series, ANIMAL MECHANICALS (40x11), produced by Halifax Film, and commissioned by CBC in Canada, where the series is one of the highest-rating preschool shows.

The Disney Channels in the U.K. and Asia; Radio-Canada, Discovery Latin America, Romania's HOP, EBS in Korea; Al-Jazeera Children Channel have all snapped up the series along with Prava I Prevodi, who acquired the title for Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.

Tricon Claims Sanctuary At MIPCOM

Toronto-based producer and distributor Tricon Films & Television has made further sales of 13x60 science fiction series SANCTUARY at MIPCOM 2008. Entertainment channel AXN has snapped up the series in a deal for Central Europe that includes Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania and Slovakia and in a further deal, Sci Fi Channel Asia has taken the series to air on its channels in more than 25 countries.

Novel's Horrid Henry Secures New Sales

U.K.-based independent producer Novel Ent. and distribution partner Little Bird Rights have secured more international sales deals for animated property HORRID HENRY in the run up to MIPCOM 2008.

Little Bird has worldwide television rights to the show outside the U.K. and Germany and has recently secured broadcast deals for the first season of 52x11 with MNet in South Africa, RTP Portugal, Digiturk in Turkey and SVT Sweden. A deal has also been secured with Polish production company Op Art.

Amita Of The Jungle Goes To MIPCOM

Lastrego & Testa will present all 26 episodes of its new TV series AMITA OF THE JUNGLE (26x7) in HD, co-produced with RAI Fiction, at MIPCOM.

The project won a nomination to the Pulcinella Awards at Cartoons On the Bay 2008 in the category Best TV Series for Children and it is in competition for the 38th edition of Roshd Festival in Tehran.

Mission To Planet 429 Launches At MIPCOM

WTTW National Productions has partnered with Roman Coppola's Directors Bureau to launch MISSION TO PLANET 429. WTTW National Productions will introduce the new mixed media comedy adventure series for children ages 6-9 at MIPCOM 2008. The property is planned to premiere with 104x11 minute episodes (or 52 half hours) on U.S. public television and in other media platforms and in markets worldwide in 2010.
