Shaun The Sheep And Flock Return To CBBC

CBBC has acquired a second season of Aardman Animations' SHAUN THE SHEEP. The 40x7 season starts shooting in early 2009, and Aardman has already secured a number of pre-sales for the show.

Among the broadcasters who have snapped up the latest adventures of Shaun are ABC Australia, TF1 France, WDR Germany, YLE Finland, SVT Sweden, DR Denmark and Noga in Israel.

Dive Olly Dive! Expands To Five Days A Week On PBS Sprout

DIVE OLLY DIVE!, the award-winning, environmentally-conscious preschool series from Taffy Ent. and Mike Young Productions, has expanded to five days a week on PBS KIDS Sprout as of Monday, September 1.

PBS KIDS Sprout, the first 24-hour preschool destination available on TV, on demand and online for kids ages 2-5 and their parents and caregivers, has moved the show from its Saturday and Sunday timeslot to Sprout's popular SUNNY SIDE UP SHOW live morning programming block where it now airs at 10:30 a.m. ET Monday-Friday.

Delgo Wins Best Feature Film At Anima Mundi 2008

Brazil's Anima Mundi festival awarded the American film, DELGO, the Best Animated Feature of the year.

The Anima Mundi award for Best Feature Film is determined by an audience of approximately 100,000 people. Anima Mundi director, Cesar Coelho, said, "We believe it's important for film enthusiasts to decide on the winner rather than a panel of jurors or film critics. Everyone who watches the selected films has an opportunity to voice their opinion."

Spike & Mike Launch Site For Animated Shorts

For the first time in its infamous 25 year history, Spike & Mike is launching a consumer facing site www.spikeandmike.com as part of the Mondo Mini Shows Network. Spike and Mike, the legendary animation producer duo, gained worldwide acclaim through their festival, Spike & Mike's Sick and Twisted Animation Festival, which has been touring in more than 50 cities throughout the U.S. and Canada since its inception.

Cartoon D'Or To Unveil Rising Talents In European Animation

CARTOON, the European Association of Animation Film, has announced the five director finalists for the 18th edition of the Cartoon d'Or, the only European prize specific to animated short films.

The candidates will have the opportunity to attend the Cartoon Forum Ludwigsburg in Germany and present their films to more than 700 professionals. The screening will take place on Thursday, September 18, during the official Cartoon d'Or Award ceremony, where the name of the winner will be unveiled.

NCircle And Kidtoons Catapult Pocoyo To The Big Screen

NCircle Ent. has entered a theatrical distribution agreement with Kidtoons, a division of The Bigger Picture, to feature award-winning animated children's series POCOYO in select movie theaters across the United States beginning in September 2008.

Kidtoons shows G-rated animated movies in theaters throughout the country every weekend. In addition to presenting matinee movies on Saturdays and Sundays, Kidtoons theaters also feature cartoon shorts, music videos and sing-a-longs prior to the feature presentation.

Annecy Selections Announced

Everything but the feature film category has been announced for Annecy 2008.

This year, 43 short films, 41 TV series, four TV specials, seven educational, scientific or industrial films, 31 advertising films, six music videos, 75 graduation films and 56 short films in panorama made the cut.

The International Animated Film Festival and Market will be held in France from June 9-14, 2008.

Aardman Acquires Award-Winning Peter and the Wolf

Aardman International has secured the worldwide TV, DVD and online rights to the award-winning PETER AND THE WOLF. The half-hour stop-motion animated film has already been licensed in several territories.

Produced by BreakThru Films, this latest film version of Prokofiev's classic work was first aired on Channel 4 last year. It was adapted and directed by the BAFTA-award-winning Suzie Templeton and set to a special new recording by the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Annecy Teams with Toondra on VOD Service

The Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Toondra.com, the first VOD site devoted to short animated films, are partnering to offer a showcase of international animation. More than 1,000 extracts of short films submitted for the festival's official selection will be available for free on www.toondra.com, and the service will be frequently updated with new extracts. TV-Loonland To Distribute Nippon's Penelope

TV-Loonland announced its appointment by Japanese production company Nippon Animation to handle multi-territory distribution for its pre-school property PENELOPE (26x5).

Under the deal, TV-Loonland will handle rights for TV, home video, VOD, broadband, IPTV and mobile sales to Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Baltic States, Scandinavia, Israel, the Middle East as well as Africa, including South Africa.

Augenblick Studios Animates Short for The Ten Theatrical Release

THE TEN, a feature film directed by David Wain featuring Paul Rudd, Wionan Ryder, and Jessica Alba features a seven-minute animated segment called, THE LYING RHINO, animated by Augenblick Studios. Produced by Wain, Jonathan Stern and Paul Rudd, THE TEN is a THINKFilm release opening Aug. 3, 2007.

Disney Starts Renaissance on DVD

The digitally animated sci-fi crime thriller RENAISSANCE has arrived on DVD from Miramax Home Ent. The film was crowned Best Picture at the 2006 Annecy International Film Festival and was an official selection at last year's Toronto Film Festival. The DVD sells for $29.99.

Kahani World & Accel Animation Team Up For Animated Feature Films & DVDs

Kahani World Inc. in Canada and Accel Animation Studios in India have packed to produce three motion pictures and 11 direct-to-DVDs, which the parties hope to spin off into further opportunities in TV, mobile, new media & web formats. One of the largest motion picture deals in Indian animation, the parties toasted the deal at MIFA last month during Annecy, to mark the first international market where Indian animation companies had come together to present India's capabilities and accomplishments on the world stage.
