TV Academy Announces Individual Achievement in Animation Emmy Award Winners
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today (Aug. 17, 2005), the Emmy Award winners in Individual Achievement in Animation, as well as Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for the 57th Annual Emmy Awards. Juried awards do not have nominations and are selected by members of ATAS' animation peer group, which may choose more than one winner in a category or none.
The winners will be presented with their Emmys at the 2005 Creative Arts Awards on Sunday, September 11, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
In previous years, there have only been a few winners, but this year the animation peer group saw fit to present eight awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation to:
Barbara Wierzchowska, animator for CLASSICAL BABY Bear Hugs segment, which aired on HBO and was produced by HBO Original Programming.
Gordon Hammond character designer for THE FAIRLY ODD PARENTS Shelf Life episode which aired on Nickelodeon and was produced by Nickelodeon Studios & Frederator.
Mike Moon, art director for FOSTERS HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS House of Bloos episode, which aired on Cartoon Network and was produced by Cartoon Network Studios.
Craig McCracken, character designer for FOSTERS HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS House of Bloos episode, which aired on Cartoon Network and was produced by Cartoon Network Studios.
Ed Baker, storyboard artist for FOSTERS HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS World Wide Wabbit episode, which aired on Cartoon Network and was produced by Cartoon Network Studios. Frederick Gardner, background key designer for THE POWERPUFF GIRLS West In Pieces episode, which aired on Cartoon Network and was produced by Cartoon Network Studios.
Bryan Andrews, storyboard artist for SAMURAI JACK Episode 49, which aired on Cartoon Network and was produced by Cartoon Network Studios.
Justin Thompson, background key designer for STAR WARS CLONE WARS VOL. 2 (Chapters 21-25), which aired on Cartoon Network and was produced by Cartoon Network Studios.
In another category, outstanding voice-over performer went to Keith David, narrator for UNFORGIVABLE BLACKNESS: THE RISE AND FALL OF JACK JOHNSON, which aired on PBS and was produced by Florentine Films in association with WETA Washington, D.C. This has typically been awarded to an actor providing a voice in an animated show in the past.
