Box Office Report: 'Think Like a Man' Beats Competition

Ensemble comedy Think Like a Man, adapted from Steve Harvey'sbest-selling advice book Act Like a Lady, remained on top this weekend, bringing in $18 million for a total of $60.9 million.

Among new releases, the stop-motion animated The Pirates! Band of Misfits, from Sony and Aardman, claimed second place with $11.4 million.

The Warner Bros. film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' The Lucky One, starring Zac Efron, came in at number three this weekend, earning $11.3 million for a total of $40 million.

Lionsgate's blockbuster The Hunger Games held on at number four in its sixth weekend out, bringing in $11.25 million for a total of $372.5 million.

At number five, Universal’s Five Year Engagement, starring Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, opened to $11.15 million.

Lionsgate’s Safe, financed and produced by IM Global, debuted in sixth place this weekend, earning $7.7 million.

Relativity’s The Raven, directed by James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) and starring John Cusack as Edgar Allen Poe, came in seventh place, earning $7.3 million.

In eighth place, Disney’s nature documentary The Chimpanzee brought in $5.5 million for a total $19.2 million.

The Farrelly Brothers adaptation of The Three Stooges slipped all the way to ninth place this weekend, bringing in $5.4 million for a total of $37.1 million.

Rounding up the list at number 10, Lionsgate & MGM’s The Cabin in the Woods earned $4.5 million for a total of $34.7 million.

In overseas box office news, a week ahead of its U.S. debut, Disney and Marvel's The Avengers opened in 39 foreign territories, bringing a truly heroic $178.4 million. The movie took first place in all of its markets, setting new opening weekend records in a dozen of them as well.
