Since 2000, MONSTRA - Lisbon Animation Festival’s main goals are to promote encounters between people with different artistic backgrounds by using the most basic and multidisciplinary language known, the one of animation cinema. The festival, already considered a distinct event in Lisbon’s cultural scene, seeks to continue its reach to the international community while extending its presence throughout Portugal.

Due to COVID-19 crisis the Lisbon Animation Festival - MONSTRA was left with no other options than to cancel its program scheduled for March 18-29, 2020. The festival now looks forward to celebrating its next edition in Spring, March 10 -21, 2021.
