MGM Ousts Sloan as CEO

MGM made a bold move this week to tackle its $37B debt. The struggling lion removed Harry Sloan as CEO and appointed Stephen Cooper. Sloan has worked the past four years to nurture MGM back to life as a major studio player.

Variety reports Cooper, also named Vice Chairman, begins work immediately tackling such issues as the fate of MGM’s library, the James Bond franchise and a pivotal stake in THE HOBBIT movies.

Comic book legend, Neal Adams, is taking his Continuity Studios to ICM for representation, says today’s HollywoodReporter.

Adams plans to take his creations across all forms of media while he makes the artistic transition to film writing and directing. Adams’ realistically modern imagery has received great acclaim as displayed in the 1960s and 1970s comics “Uncanny X-Men," "Green Lantern and Green Arrow" and "Batman.”

TWILIGHT author Stephenie Meyer’s own story will be re-told in the comic book “Female Force,” reports EW.com

Bluewater Productions publishes the biographical comic, a popular read celebrating strong women.

Two editions (Standard and Collectable) will hit store shelves before NEW MOON’s November theatrical release. The comic’s assigned writer, Ryan Burton, has hinted that a popular vampire will serve as narrator, but teased nothing more.

Former Warner Bros. TV exec Andrew Plotkin has stepped into the role of SVP of original programming at SyFy, reports VARIETY. He will report to Syfy original programming EVP and Universal Cable Prods. co-head of original content Mark Stern. Plotkin will work closely with Syfy's other SVP Erik Storey.

Plotkin takes the post that Tony Optican vacated to head FremantleMedia North America's scripted programming division.
