Zynga Taps Autodesk for 'FarmVille 2'

The development team behind “FarmVille 2” talks about how it built a 3D pipeline with Autodesk 3ds Max and the Flare3D plug-in for Flash.

Autodesk visited game developer Zynga at its San Francisco headquarters to talk to the development team behind FarmVille 2, the sequel to the popular casual 2D game FarmVille, in a video that shows how the Zynga team modeled, animated and rigged 3D characters and environments to build an engrossing universe for gamers.

Available for viewing on the Autodesk AREA inHouse site, the video features insights and opinions from FarmVille 2 Director of Design Wright Bagwell, Lead Animator Ryan Hood, Art Director Daryl Anselmo, Sr., Technical Artist Brian Huffman and General Manager of Shared Technology Richard Rabbit.

Providing an inside look at the creative thought process and design behind FarmVille 2, the creative team discusses 3D character design, development and animation for FarmVille 2, including Building a 3D pipeline with Autodesk 3ds Max and the Flare3D plug-in for Flash, as well as the evolution and future of casual gaming.
