Robert Zemeckis is in talks to helm the time travel tale REPLAY for Warner Bros., reports Vulture. Based on Ken Grimwood’s novel, the story follows a 40-year-old who dies and returns to his 18-year-old self with the wisdom he gained the previous time around. Each time he reaches 40, the cycle repeats. Jason Smilovic (LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN) adapted the script.

Previously Ben Affleck was attached to direct, but opted out to helm Warner Bros.’ ARGO, an Iran hostage thriller.

For a while Zemeckis had been circling another time travel tale at Warners titled TIMELESS, written by Mike Thompson (DRAGONFLY).
