Release of Maxon’s award-winning winning 3D creative software features many tools found in the desktop version and adds a customizable interface for arranging sculpting tools to optimize a personal user experience.
Maxon has announced ZBrush for iPad, which now makes it easier to take the award-winning winning 3D creative software on the road, with many of the tools and features found in the desktop version.
ZBrush for iPad features found in the desktop version include the collection of proprietary digital sculpting brushes. In addition, users will find the iPad version maintains polygon count, depending on the iPad memory and version. Maxon notes the latest M4 iPad with at least one terabyte (TB) of storage can reach up to 92 million polygons per mesh.
The release also features a customizable user interface that expands on the desktop version’s QuickMenu, so users can arrange sculpting tools to optimize their personal experience. It is also possible to customize the Apple Pencil double tap or Pencil Pro squeeze to complete an action, such as framing a mesh in the document or turning on PolyGroup.

- ZRemesher generates a new mesh with an evenly distributed polygons, preserving details and flow of the original surface.
- Sculptris Pro adds and reduces triangle tessellation, making it simple to focus on sculpting without worrying about technical restraints.
- DynaMesh retopologizes while sculpting, so it’s possible to stretch digital clay or add volume while retaining the same basic capacity for detail.
- Array Mesh allows users to create duplicate instances of geometry in varying patterns and shapes in real-time.
- The Dynamics system enhances sculpts by allowing a surface to be draped over another surface.
- Live Boolean gives users the ability to combine, subtract, and/or use intersections to create unique results.
- PolyPaint makes it easier to paint and sculpt at the same time, allowing users to paint on the surface of a model without first assigning a texture map.
ZBrush and Maxon One subscriptions include ZBrush for iPad, which is also available as a stand-alone subscription. It includes over 200 of ZBrush’s leading digital sculpting brushes and the ability to load the thousands of user created custom brushes.
ZBrush and Maxon One subscribers can also share ZTool (ZTL) and ZProject (ZPR) files between iPad and desktop and use GoZ to move files between versions with one click.
ZBrush for iPad also has a free plan that offers a robust sculpting experience with an introductory set of 28 of the most popular brushes and limited features for tools like Dynamesh, SculptrisPro, ZSpheres, and ZRemesher. It is now available at the App Store.
ZBrush for iPad requires iPadOS 17 or later and is available on iPad models with A12 Bionic or later.
