YTV & Treehouse Trim Up Holiday Programming for December

YTV and Treehouse in Canada have a month-long lineup of holiday programming to help every member of the family ring in the festive season.

Highlights include the animated debut of Harry Connick Jr. in the new one-hour special, THE HAPPY ELF, premiering Dec. 5, 2005, at 6:00 pm. (rebroadcast Dec. 22 at 7:00 pm). Starring the voice and music of Harry Connick Jr., THE HAPPY ELF is based on the original song from his platinum Christmas album, Harry for the Holidays. Featuring Connick Jr. as the animated narrator, THE HAPPY ELF tells the story of Eubie, Santas most hyper helper whose overenthusiastic, rose-colored view of the holiday season is put to the test when he decides to bring Christmas joy to a dreary town called Bluesville. It features original songs by Connick Jr.

Join The Peanuts gang and celebrate the 40th anniversary of A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS on Dec. 8 at 6:00 pm. (rebroadcast Dec. 18 at 7:00 pm). When Charlie Brown thinks that the true meaning of Christmas has been forgotten, Lucy advises him to direct the annual play, to get back into the spirit. In setting out to find the perfect tree to decorate the stage, he also discovers the true meaning of the holidays, courtesy of his friend Linus.

YTVs annual retro weekend is back on Dec. 17-18, with A Blast From The Christmas Past. Starting on Saturday, viewers will be treated to a lineup that includes everything from A CHRISTMAS CAROL at 1:00 pm to A CHIPMUNK CHRISTMAS at 6:00 pm. A special holiday edition of ZAPX is scheduled for Sunday, with host Simon taking viewers through a family-filled lineup of specials, starting with the Rankin-Bass classic, RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER at 6:00 pm; GARFIELDS CHRISTMAS at 7:30 pm and A FLINTSTONE FAMILY CHRISTMAS at 8:30 pm.

Nearly every weekday in December, YTV delivers a selection of holiday favorites from hit series, kicking off on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:00 pm with the premiere of MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT: A Robot For All Seasons. Other highlights include the premiere of ALL GROWN UP: The Finster Who Stole Christmas on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 6:00 pm, JIMMY NEUTRON, BOY GENIUS: Holly Jolly Jimmy on Monday, Dec. 12 at 6:00 pm, and SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6:00 pm.

Preschoolers and their caregivers can join in on the holiday cheer all month long starting Saturday, Dec. 3 with Treehouses lineup of holiday programming, including new FRANKLIN AND TOOPY & BINOO specials.

FRANKLINS MAGIC CHRISTMAS premieres on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 7:00 am and 4:30 pm. Seeking help for the turtles injured Grandpa, Franklin and his little sister Harriet embark on a difficult journey from Faraway Farm back to Woodland. Convinced that being a big brother is big trouble, this festive voyage reminds Franklin that he is very lucky to share this magical Christmas memory with his special little sister.

Toopy & Binoo celebrate the season with a 30-minute special on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 1:30 p.m. (rebroadcast Dec. 24 at 1:30 pm) Stories in the episode include Toopy and Binoo preparing for Christmas Eve when Toopy realizes that he forgot to invite the guests; Santa Toopy and Santa Binoo give special presents to everything in the house; and Toopy organizing Christmas in July in order to give Binoo a special present.
