Yeti Greenlights Digital-First Docu-Series ‘Kick Flip’ in Partnership with Freeride Entertainment, Women’s Skateboarding Alliance and MAHFIA.TV

Yeti Farm Creative has greenlit the 10-part documentary mini-series featuring 10 high-profile, professional female athletes in skateboarding today for Yeti’s YouTube channel and MAHFIA.TV, and is in development on a companion animated series.

KELOWNA, BC -- Yeti Farm Creative has announced that they have greenlit Kick Flip, a 10-part documentary mini-series featuring 10 high-profile, professional female athletes and influencers in skateboarding today. Yeti’s YouTube channel and MAHFIA.TV, the global destination for women’s action sports, will both offer the episodes. Yeti has partnered with the Women’s Skateboarding Alliance (Mimi Knoop, Yulin Olliver, Kim Woozy and Lisa Whitaker), Freeride Entertainment (Live Action Cinematography) and writer Joel Muzzey to bring the mini-series to life.

Targeted to a tween (9–12) audience, the first season is comprised of five episodes and will air this fall. The mini-series features celebrity pro skateboarders Lacey Baker, Nora Vasconcellos, Samarria Brevard, Cara-Beth Burnside and 12-year-old up-and-comer Brighton Zeuner. The series will blend real-world interviews with animation inspired by a companion-animated series currently in development. Kick Flip episodes will follow the athletes’ real-life stories, covering topics like grit, perseverance and pioneering, while weaving in fun, comedic animated sequences.

Ashley Ramsay, Co-Founder of Yeti, and Executive Producer of the mini-series said of the project: “It is a pivotal moment for these female athletes right now. It is important for us to weave their incredibly inspiring real-life stories into the fabric of this franchise to give it deep meaning and to encourage more kids to continue to blaze a trail in the pursuit of their dreams.”

The second season of Kick Flip will air in early 2018, and its athletes will be announced this summer. Yeti will finance and produce the series independently.

The animated series, also titled Kick Flip, is in development at Yeti Farm Creative. An original concept of Jessika von Innerebner, the animated show will follow two female skateboarder characters, Laces and Nessa, and their quirky bus driver and filmographer cat Turkey, as they bumble through a hot summer chasing their dreams and learning about hard work, fun and kinship, and make friends along the way.
