The independent French VFX company plans to bring French creativity and international production expertise to the U.K.’s film and television industry.
Leading independent French visual effects studio The Yard VFX has opened a new studio in London. With this expansion, the studio aims to bring its unique fusion of French creativity and international production expertise to the U.K.’s film and television industry.
Founded in Paris in 2014, The Yard has built a reputation for delivering visual effects for challenging international projects. The studio has collaborated with major film studios, production companies, and streaming platforms worldwide. The studio received the 2023 Cesar (France’s Academy Awards) for Best Visual Effects on Notre Dame on Fire, directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud and has received multiple nominations for awards, including the 2024 Emmy Awards for All the Light We Cannot See directed by Shawn Levy.
“London is a dynamic hub for the global creative industry, and we are thrilled to bring our French flair and global experience to this exciting market,” said The Yard founder and senior VFX supervisor Laurens Ehrmann “With our new London studio, we aim to combine the best of French artistry with the incredible talent and vibrant creative scene of the U.K.”
The new London studio will serve as a strategic extension of The Yard’s operations, fostering closer collaboration with UK-based production companies, filmmakers, and agencies. This expansion enhances the studio’s ability to serve its international clients while forging new partnerships.
“We see this expansion as a natural progression in our journey,” added Ehrmann. “Our vision is to create a bridge between Paris and London, leveraging our international expertise with local insights to deliver groundbreaking visual effects. Our strategy has always been to expand where there is a wealth of talent, and the UK has long proven its appeal to creative professionals, including many French artists.”
With its new London presence The Yard can offer international clients a chance to benefit from the U.K.’s attractive film and TV tax relief programs. The U.K. offers substantial tax incentives for film, high-end TV, and animation productions.
“Our London studio will empower international clients to achieve the highest quality visual effects while maximizing the UK's competitive tax incentives,” noted Ehrmann. “As we have done in France, we will provide a seamless, high-standard service that combines creative excellence with financial efficiency, making London the ideal base for our next chapter.”
The London team will join an expanding group of artists, including many French professionals, whose skills have contributed to major productions such as The Rings of Power - Season 2, Halo - Season 2, the Emmy-nominated All the Light We Cannot See, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and John Wick: Chapter 4.
