XYZ Animates ABC1’s 'Encounters'

Creative studio XYZ joins forces with Melbourne production company Suitcase Murphy to create the new ABC1 television series, Australian Encounters, directed by Duncan Imberger and Josh Moore with hand-drawn illustrations by renowned illustrator and satirical cartoonist Chris Grosz.

Melbourne and New York-based creative studio XYZ has joined forces with Melbourne production company Suitcase Murphy to create the new ABC1 television series Australian Encounters. Directed by Duncan Imberger and Josh Moore, the illustrations were entirely hand drawn by renowned illustrator and satirical cartoonist Chris Grosz.

Beautifully animated by XYZ’s Stephen Watkins, and narrated Geoffrey Rush, the series is based on the popular “Encounters” column published in The Monthly Magazine. It depicts legendary Australians such as Bob Hawke, Rupert Murdoch, Kylie Minogue and Ned Kelly encountering famous international players – madness and a sizeable slice of hilarity ensues in this ten-part short form series.
