Animated action seriesSOSOPHIE, currently in development at entertainment companychannelzero, has brought on Emmy-winning writer Peter Gaffney."Peter's body of work and list of credits speak for themselves," saidchannelzero founder and creative producer Dave Warren. "I think he'sthe finest writer in animation and I'm thrilled to be working withhim to bring SOSOPHIE to television." Described by its creators asTHE SIMPSONS meets THE DUKES OF HAZARD, SOSOPHIE debuted at NATPE inJanuary 2002 and Warren said the company has since been overwhelmedby interest in the show. "Peter's addition will definitely fan theflame," Warren concluded. Gaffney is best known as co-creator ofNickelodeon's AAAHH!!! REAL MONSTERS and as an Emmy-winning seniorstory editor during the first five seasons of RUGRATS. He also had along relationship with MTV Animation, working as a writer andcreative consultant on the series BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD, DARIA and AEONFLUX. In his view, SOSOPHIE combines the best aspects of those showswith the more universal appeal of a show like THE SIMPSONS. "SOSOPHIEoffers a vivid, thoroughly original comic vision, and at the sametime it's instantly engaging," explained Gaffney. "The characters andworld are wonderfully bizarre yet completely relatable. I think thisis a show that people across the board are going to find funny."
