Women In Animation Announces New York Event

Women In Animation announces its first New York City event of the year on February 11, during Kidscreen Summit.

Los Angeles, CA -- As the newly re-launched Women In Animation heads into its 20th year in 2014, the professional non-profit organization for women who are involved in any aspect of the animation industry has organized their first NYC event and membership drive on February 11th from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm, during Kidscreen Summit 2014.

The event, which will be held at restaurant Iguana, 240 West 54th Street (between 8th Avenue and Broadway), is open to women and men who are interested in learning more about WIA, and how membership of the organization can be of value.

WIA Co-President’s Kristy Scanlan and Marge Dean and Jinko Gotoh, Chair of Chapter Support will be at the event to discuss WIA’s vision to foster an environment in which women share fully in the creation, production and rewards of animation, resulting in richer and more diverse entertainment and media that move our culture forward.  They will also discuss the organizations goal to engage WIA members through a variety of online and offline events, small collegial gatherings and large networking events in an effort to create new opportunities of connection and inspiration; and to inspire women to excel in the animation industry by encouraging artistic excellence through WIA awards and by educating its members about technology advances and career growth in continuing education classes.

The event is sponsored by Shotgun Software, ToonBoom, The Jim Henson Company, NCircle Entertainment and Animation Magazine.

The first 100 attendees to arrive will receive a copy of the Dr. Seuss DVD Cat in the Hat – Hurray It’s Valentine’s Day, courtesy of NCircle Entertainment, and a free digital subscription to Animation Magazine will be available to everyone who attends the party. The onsite raffle will include prizes such as a private tour for two of The Jim Henson Company’s New York-based studio.

Please RSVP for the event by Friday, February 7 at http://whoozin.com/WUU-MMW-XXYW.
