Wildbrain Creates Content For Cartoon Network On-line

Wild Brain, Inc. announced that the animation studio is producing a slate of original Web shows for the Cartoon Network On-line. The 15 Webtoons will air on both of the companies' Internet channels. The two companies have worked together before, most recently on EL KABONG, a Cartoon Network retro TV short featuring the famous 1960s cartoon character, Quick Draw McGraw. Reflecting Cartoon Network's wide array of animated genres, Wild Brain's 15 new creations will vary in terms of art-direction, character design and overall tone. Some of the toons will be produced in the Anime style and others will have a "retro" look. EL KABONG director, George Evelyn, said, "What's really great is that each Webtoon is designed to stand alone, and not be part of a cluster of episodes. It's like a return to classic cartoon making, each short its own little story in its own little world." Each two-minute Webtoon will be finished in FLASH 4. Katie Rauh, a veteran commercial producer, will oversee the day-to-day development and production process. The Webtoons premiere date on CartoonNetwork.com, followed by broadcast on wildbrain.com, has yet to de determined. Sam Register, Vice President/Creative Director, Cartoon Network On-line, said, "Wild Brain is an innovative animation creator and we're thrilled to be working with their talent to produce original, creative cartoons for the Web." Robin Steele, VP of Development at Wild Brain, said, "The studio response to the call for entries was overwhelming. We presented this huge pile of ideas and drawings to the Cartoon Network during a hilarious pitch session that went on for hours."
