‘The Wild Robot’ Premium Screen Release Utilized TrueCut Motion Grading

The Pixelworks team worked closely with the DreamWorks Animation filmmakers to fine-tune and enhance the motion look of all action, shot by shot, in post-production while keeping the cinematic look and feel intact.

Pixelworks has announced that DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot is being presented with TrueCut Motion technology on premium screens worldwide. Working closely with the filmmakers, the Pixelworks motion grading team utilized advanced TrueCut Motion technology to bring stunning motion clarity to the highly reviewed movie.

TrueCut Motion is an award-winning technology that provides filmmakers with an extended palette of motion looks that has never been possible before. The platform allows creatives to fine-tune or enhance the motion look of all action, shot by shot, in post-production, while keeping the intended cinematic look and feel intact. These creative choices are delivered consistently across every screen and optimized on any viewing device — spanning theaters, televisions, mobile and next-generation headsets — in both 3D and standard 2D environments.

The Wild Robot follows the epic adventure of a robot - ROZZUM unit 7134, ‘Roz’ for short – who’s shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

The film stars Lupita Nyong’o (Us, The Black Panther franchise) as robot Roz; Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) as fox Fink; Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Best in Show) as opossum Pinktail; Bill Nighy (Living, Love Actually) as goose Longneck; Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Rocketman) as gosling Brightbill; and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Fall Guy) as Vontra, a robot that will intersect with Roz’s life on the island.

Sanders, who wrote and directed DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, and Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, wrote and directed the film. Jeff Hermann (DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby 2: Family Business; co-producer, Kung Fu Panda franchise) produces.

Adapted from Peter Brown’s New York Times bestseller, the 3DCG film is now playing in theaters.
