Hitting U.S. theatres December 20, Episode IX’s epic conclusion to the original ‘Star Wars’ cinematic saga draws ever closer.
With the cast and director J.J. Abrams on hand at D23 to debut footage from Disney’s upcoming December 20 release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans got another glimpse of Episode IX’s epic conclusion to the original Star Wars and Skywalker saga launched over 40 years ago by the legendary George Lucas.
Lucasfilm and Abrams have joined forces once again to take audiences to a galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, where new legends will be born and the final battle for freedom is yet to come. Returning stars include the late Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong’o, Kelly Marie Tran and Anthony Daniels. In addition to the welcome return at Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, the cast also includes newcomers Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant and Keri Russell.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is directed by Abrams and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams and Michelle Rejwan. Callum Greene, Tommy Gormley and Jason McGatlin serve as executive producers. The film was written by Abrams & Chris Terrio.
