Warner Bros. Enlists in 300 Director's Army of the Dead

300 director Zack Snyder is returning to the world of zombies as he teams with Warner Bros. on his original story, ARMY OF THE DEAD, reports VARIETY. Snyder will produce with his wife Deborah via their Cruel & Unusual Films production house. Joby Harold, who wrote Weinstein Co.'s forthcoming AWAKE, will write the screenplay. Cruel's Wesley Coller is set to exec produce.

The near-future set thriller finds Las Vegas quarantined after zombies after take over the city. A father must sneak into Sin City in an effort to save his daughter. Snyder first tackled zombies in Universal's remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD.

Snyder has not yet committed to directing the film. His next picture will be the adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' famed graphic novel, WATCHMEN.
