Walt Disney Animation Drops ‘Strange World’ Concept Art

In the studio’s new original animated feature, viewers will experience uncharted and dangerous lands, led by a legendary family on a critical mission; helmed by Oscar-winning director Don Hall, the film is slated for release on November 23, 2022.

Once again Disney does what Disney does best: taking viewers on imaginative voyages of discovery to curious and fantastic places. And now fans can start the countdown to yet another Disney animated journey to the wonders of… Strange World. The original animated action-adventure travels deep into an uncharted and treacherous land where fantastical creatures await the legendary Clades family of explorers whose differences threaten to topple their latest—and by far— most crucial mission.

Walt Disney Animation has shared concept art for the upcoming feature slated for release in November 2022. According to Oscar-winning director Don Hall, the film is a nod to pulp magazines, inspired by the popular fiction from the first half of the 20th century that was printed on inexpensive wood pulp paper.

“I loved reading the old issues of pulps growing up,” shared Hall. “They were big adventures in which a group of explorers might discover a hidden world or ancient creatures. They’ve been a huge inspiration for Strange World.”

Helmed by Hall (Big Hero 6, Raya and the Last Dragon), co-directed/written by Qui Nguyen (co-writer Raya and the Last Dragon), and produced by Oscar winner Roy Conli (Big Hero 6, Tangled), Strange World releases November 23, 2022.
