Press Release from Aardman

Aardman Animations is further consolidating its ongoing relationship with ABC Australia, securing a pre-sale for its new live action series Wallace & Gromit present A World of Invention.

ABC has picked up the 6 x 29’ invention inspired show, fronted and presented by the much-loved family favourites, Wallace and Gromit, with broadcast scheduled for late 2010.

Aardman Rights is presenting the series to international buyers at MIPCOM 2009 where it will be looking to secure further broadcast deals.

Aardman’s Head of Sales Alix Wiseman says: “With several award-winning films and television series to their name, it is exciting to be taking Wallace and Gromit into a new genre and we are delighted that ABC has made a further commitment to our programming. We are confident that Wallace & Gromit present A World of Invention has great international potential and will appeal to family audiences worldwide.”

Marena Manzoufas, Head of Programming at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation said “We are delighted to be part of Wallace and Gromit’s World of Invention and I know our audiences in Australia will be really looking forward to seeing those two delightful characters on their screens again!”

Commissioned by BBC One, the show takes a light-hearted and humorous look at real-life contraptions, gadgets and inventions. The series is expected to broadcast in late 2010 on the BBC and aims to inspire a whole new generation of innovative minds by showing them real, but mind-boggling, machines and inventions from around the world that have influenced Wallace’s ‘illustrious’ inventing career.

The show is broadcast from Wallace’s basement where Wallace has created what he considers to be a ‘state of the art’ TV studio. Each episode will have a theme such as flying, water, communication or space and will feature live action segments showing real life inventors and inventions, with animated links by Wallace and Gromit

Wallace and Gromit present A World of Invention will be accompanied by a website and online campaign which will further engage and encourage fans to discover their inner inventor.

Wallace & Gromit present: A World of Cracking Ideas, sponsored by the IPO, is currently on show at the London Science Museum and will be available in other venues in the UK in 2010.
