Voltron Rights Get New Life

The producers behind GET SMART and THE INTERNATIONAL have purchased the rights to make a live-action feature based on VOLTRON, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Steven Zeitchik.

Atlas Ent.'s Charles Roven, Richard Suckle and Steve Alexander form the team ready to make a movie out of the robot-lion property after it's sat in development for several years at Mark Gordon Company.

Roven and his partners got the rights from the Japanese title from World Events Productions, the company that has held the rights for more than 20 years. VOLTRON was a hit in the 1980s but only aired for two years in the U.S.
