AWN is extremely pleased to present the works of Raoul Servais in "RaoulServais, A Painter-Filmmaker's Journey." Raoul Servais has broken newground in animation with personal triumphs ranging from "Chromophobia" (1stPrize, Venice 1966) to "Harpya" (Golden Palm award, Cannes 1979). Servaishas the rare skill of being able to apply a different graphic style to eachof his films, exploring a wide range of styles and techniques whileremaining true to his art. Narration and a strong sense of screenplaymingle with surrealistic, caustic and poetic dreamscapes. Servais has wonseveral prizes from almost every international film festival. Last year atthe Annecy Festival, Raoul Servais took home both the coveted Grand Prizefor Best Short Film and the FIPRESCI International Film Critic's Prize forhis new film "Nocturnal Butterflies." This gallery showcases images fromServais' entire body of work (thirteen films, from 1960 to 1999), togetherwith background information on the films.
