Virtual ‘F*ck Up Night’ Celebrates International Women’s Day

Hosted online March 8 by Animated Women UK, speakers will share the upside to f*cking stuff up, including lessons learned and gleaning positives from failures; the panel, featuring professionals from across VFX and animation.

Animated Women UK will be running a virtual ‘F*ck Up Night’ event on March 8 to mark International Women’s Day. After a successful first event in December 2020, the event returns with a new panel of speakers from across the VFX and animation industry. The speakers will be coming together virtually on Zoom to share their experiences and talk about how to get something positive out of f*ck ups and failures.

Led by Animated Women UK Animation co-chair Dara McGarry, the speakers will share their “less than successful moments” and consequently what they learned from them. This is followed by the opportunity for all participants to join in a Q&A via chat and live discussion over Zoom. Participants will then be invited to break out into smaller groups and encouraged to share their own stories too.

Speakers include:

  • Debra Coleman, founder of Open Frame Coaching and Alumna of Animated Women UK’s Achieve program
  • Bianca Iancu - Bompa Studio, lead animation
  • Emma Taylor-Gilli - One of Us, digital matte painter,
  • Karla Young - Jellyfish Pictures head of PR, Marketing and Communications

The event is free for Animated Women UK members or £5 for non-members. Tickets are available here via Eventbrite:
