VIEW Conference Presents Highlights for its Upcoming 2022 Event:

The international VIEW Conference 2022 promises to inspire, inform, and educate both in-person and online, with industry professionals, leaders, students, and enthusiasts coming together to celebrate the latest achievements in animation, VFX, and games. The complete program is available to browse by topic or by speaker here.

The conference will host an extensive program of live talks, presentations, workshops, and masterclasses on various topics, including Storytelling, Virtual Production, Computer Graphics, Interactive & Immersive Media, VR/AR/Mixed Reality and the Metaverse, Artificial Intelligence, and Real-Time Rendering.

Sessions will look at some this year’s most popular animated features such as Encanto; Pinocchio; Turning Red; Lightyear; Wendell & Wild; The Sea Beast; The Bad Guys; and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, led by top creatives from Walt Disney Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, and Netflix. Presentations will also be led by filmmakers including Oscar-winner Robert Zemeckis, and directors Henry Selick, Angus MacLane, and Domee Shi.

Highlights include 20-minutes of never-before-seen footage of Disney’s upcoming animated feature Strange World presented by producer Roy Conli and a retrospective of Disney’s 1994 classic The Lion King with director Rob Minkoff.

Featured presentations will include key creators from the Netflix series Lost Ollie, the Netflix animated anthology Love, Death + Robots, and the ABBA Voyage concert experience, as well as the award-winning Horizon Forbidden West and the BAFTA Games award-winning Returnal. VFX supervisors will present in-person a look at some of the latest blockbusters, including Thor: Love & Thunder, Stranger Things 4, The Sandman, Jurassic World Dominion, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and Moon Knight.

Panels will feature innovative creators, technology masters, and industry leaders from AMD, Epic Games, Intel, Lenovo, Nvidia, Wacom, and Adobe.

Unreal Engine’s Marc Petit curates an in-depth conference track on the Metaverse, with a range of thinkers and virtual pioneers discussing the possibilities of the immersive worlds on the horizon. In addition, experts from the field of virtual production examine the convergence of real and digital worlds in filmmaking, while artificial intelligence looks at the complex relationship between artists and AI.

Additional panels bring together filmmakers, studio heads, and creatives who will discuss the future of storytelling, animation, and visual effects. In addition, Nickelodeon president Ramsey Naito and Sony Pictures Animation president Kristine Belson will share the stories behind their respective studios.

“It might sound like a cliché, but it is true to say that every year the VIEW Conference program gets bigger and better,” says Conference Director Dr. Maria Elena Gutierrez. “The caliber of this year’s speakers is matched only by their enthusiasm for the conference and everything it stands for. And, after the nightmare of COVID, it is wonderful to know that most of our speakers are attending in person.”

VIEW’s program of workshops and masterclasses will feature the creatives from the award-winning stop-motion studio Aardman Animation sharing their knowledge; 3D modeling techniques in Blender software and stylized computer rendering; traditional anatomy, and life drawing skills. In addition, Lost Ollie creators Shannon Tindle and Peter Ramsey will share their insights in “Telling Stories that Matter.” Additional workshops offer practical advice on honing essential career skills in “How to Pitch a Feature Film” and “Avoiding Creative Burnout.”

“I mentioned how big our conference program is for 2022,” added Gutierrez. “Yet there is something even bigger. When VIEW Conference is in full swing, I invite everyone who is attending to take a moment just to step back and listen. Behind the buzz of conversation, they will hear the unmistakable beat of the conference’s hidden heart. It is a heart powered by inspiration, love, and mutual respect. It is the reason we all come together to celebrate our achievements and share our ideas. This heart, and the warm human spirit it represents, is what matters to me most about VIEW Conference. Whether in person in Torino, or virtually, I look forward to welcoming you all!”
