Tom Kenny, Zehra Fazal, Josh Keaton and Yuri Lowenthal discuss their characters and share insights into Isamu Imakake’s action-packed sci-fi anime adventure.
ELEVEN ARTS has released a new featurette that goes behind the scenes of the English-language voice dub created for The Laws of the Universe - Part I, director Isamu Imakake’s vividly designed and energetically paced sequel to his 2015 anime feature, The Laws of the Universe - Part 0. Released in the U.S. last fall, The Laws of the Universe - Part I is currently one of 25 qualified films submitted for consideration for a nomination in this year’s Oscar race.
Reversing the history of mankind, The Laws of the Universe - Part I promises to reveal the true reason we exist as earthlings on this planet. It shares with audiences the birth of the Earth -- featuring interactions and battles with various aliens -- and the existence of the God of the Earth.
In the film, university students Ray, Anna, Tyler, Halle, and Eisuke are enjoying college life, pursuing their dreams, but in reality, have a secret mission: to fight against invading Reptilians from outer space. One day, Ray travels 330 million years back in time to find his missing friend Tyler, who has fallen into a trap set by the evil alien, Dahar. Also, at that time, Alpha, the God of the Earth, was planning to create a new civilization and had invited Queen Zamza and her fellow Reptilian from the planet Zeta to Earth.
The English-language voice cast features Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as the voice of Ummit, alongside Josh Keaton (Spider-Man, Voltron, Avengers Assemble) as Ray, Zehra Fazal (Voltron, Young Justice) as Zamza, and Yuri Lowenthal (Spider-Man, Young Justice) as Tyler.
The new featurette features interviews with all four lead voice cast members, who discuss their characters and share their insights into the film. Check it out in the player below:
In addition to Kenny, Fazal, Keaton and Lowenthal, The Laws of the Universe - Part I also includes the voice talents of Kari Wahlgren as Anna, Hynden Walch as Halle, Roger Craig Smith as Eisuke, D.C. Douglas as Alpha, Aleks Le as Dahar, Brian Beacock as Eros, and Kirk Thornton as Geopald. Wendee Lee, the English dub voice director, also voices the roles of Gaia and Inkar.
Produced by HS Pictures Studio, The Laws of the Universe - Part 1 is executive produced by noted author Ryuho Okawa from his original story and produced by Hisaaki Takeuchi, Koji Matsumoto, Naohumi Sato and Tomohiro Mitsuhashi.
