'Vic the Viking' Conquers Australia

“Vic the Viking,” the 78 x 11 minute Australian/French animated co-production between ASE Studios Pty Limited and Studio 100 Animation in association with Flying Bark Productions, has been commissioned by ABC TV in Australia.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA – Vic the Viking, formerly known as Vicky the Viking, the 78 x 11 minute Australian/French animated co-production between ASE Studios Pty Limited and Studio 100 Animation in association with Flying Bark Productions, has been commissioned by ABC TV in Australia.

Both ABC TV and Network Ten commissioned the series, with Network Ten premiering the series this year and a follow up broadcast scheduled for ABC TV.

Aimed at 5-11 year olds, the action comedy series is currently in production and follows Vic, an ingenious little Viking, who has developed a remarkable sense of astuteness in order to solve problems his clan encounters as based on Runer Jonsson’s globally recognized books.

“I am thrilled to announce ABC TV has picked up Vic the Viking here in Australia.  The series will strongly resonate with local audiences through its combination of comedy and action-adventure mixed with vivid animation detail.  The books are extremely popular with the demographic and I am sure children will love our interpretation of Vic the Viking as much as they enjoy Runer Jonsson’s tales,” said Flying Bark Productions’ Managing Director Jim Ballantine.

Vic is a little Viking with big ideas.  He sails the high seas with his Dad the Viking chief and their lovable crew of oddball explorers.  Each episode brings a new adventure and a new conundrum for Vic to solve.  The exuberant Viking chief Halvar and his crew always manage to get themselves into sticky situations and it's up to Vicky to get them out!  While Vic isn't a very big Viking, he has a huge imagination and always has a trick up his sleeve ready to save the day.

Join Vic on his adventures along with a whole cast of characters: watch the Vikings battle 'Sven the Terrible', the fearless pirate leader; chuckle along as Vic and his cousin Ylvi solve village disputes when egos get out of hand; and marvel at the exotic new lands the Vikings visit as they continue the hunt for treasure. No matter where they find themselves, our Vikings always remember that the best treasures don't need to be found  - they're waiting for them at home in the village of Flake.  Friends and family mean everything to the Vikings.

VictThe Viking is a show for every child who's ever dreamt of adventure.  Vic teaches us that everyone can be a Viking, no matter how big and no matter how small.
