Unity has been awarded its first Technology and Engineering Emmy Award for “3D Engine Software for the Production of Animation” as a result of the work done in association with Disney Television Animation on Baymax Dreams. This collaboration resulted in three two-minute shorts broadcast on Disney XD as part of Emmy-nominated Big Hero 6: The Series.

Of note, the Academy remarked on the Cinemachine and Timeline technologies within Unity that made these shorts a reality, and added that Unity’s technology showed excellence in engineering creativity and has materially affected the television viewing experience.

“We’re thrilled that the technical achievements powered by Unity and demonstrated in Disney Television Animation’s Baymax Dreams are being celebrated by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences,” said Isabelle Riva, head of Made with Unity. “As recognized by the academy, the real-time revolution is happening now and Unity is proud to support partners as they blaze trails in this space.”

This year’s recipients will be honored at the 70th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy Awards on Sunday, April 7, 2019 in Las Vegas, NV in partnership with the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Show/conference.
