Two Will Get Animation Individual Achievement Daytime Emmys May 10

Gary Baseman and Peter Sluszka are the only recipients this year for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation in the 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards to be presented May 10, 2003 at the non-televised Creative Craft Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony held simultaneously in New York City and Los Angeles. This is a juried category voted upon by the Animation Peer group of the Academy, which determines how many, if any, are deserving of recognition.

Sluszka is being honored for his animation achievements on the stop-motion series I SPY from Scholastic, airing on HBO Family. His award will be presented in New York at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. Baseman is a recepient for his production design on the "Science Or Fair" episode of DISNEY' TEACHER'S PET, produced by Walt Disney TV Animation, airing on ABC. Baseman will pick up his award in Los Angeles at the Sheraton Universal Hotel.

The rest of animation categories, as well as the music, sound editing and mixing awards will be presented at the Creative Awards at the two locations while the high profile programming categories such as daytime drama and acting awards will be presented during the broadcast on ABC from New York City's Radio Music Hall on Friday, May 16, 2003 (8-11:00 pm ET).
