Two New Series To Debut On Cartoon Network In 2002

Cartoon Network has announced two original series premieres in 2002: WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ROBOT JONES? and CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR. Scheduled to debut in July 2002, WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ROBOT JONES? is set in the retro-1980s future where robots have become commonplace. Robot Jones is a special robot, who is programmed with basic emotions that he doesnt quite have a handle on. His socially awkward interactions with his family, friends and enemies, form the basis of the series. The network has greenlit six half-hour episodes of ROBOT JONES, which was created by Greg Miller, who has previous worked on DEXTERS LABORATORY and COW AND CHICKEN. CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR follows the escapades of a group of 10-year-olds who join forces against adults and embark on secret missions using wacky home-made technology to fight for the rights of kids everywhere. In August 2001, CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR was chosen by viewers to be the new Cartoon Network series, during "The Big Pick," when viewers had the chance to see nine series pilots and then vote for their favorite. The series is scheduled to premiere in November 2002 and was created by animator Tom Warburton, who is currently working on SHEEP IN THE BIG CITY.
