Two Animation Festivals Ignite - KABOOM!

Bringing together all things animated, KLIK and Holland Animation Festivals create a new, two-city festival for animation running November 9-17.

KLIK Amsterdam Animation Festival and Holland Animation Festival in Utrecht, through their collaborative efforts, have announced they have combined to create Kaboom Animation Festival. A new one-stop-shop for the latest and greatest in all things animated, Kaboom will range from cutting-edge experimental arthouse to colorful stories for families and kids, catering to the animation needs of all. With separate sets of events happening in both Utrecht and Amsterdam, the full event runs November 9-17.

From November 9-12, Kaboom Kids will take place across various venues in Utrecht and focus exclusively on animation for kids and families. Visitors will come face to face with their favorite animated characters including, Shaun the Sheep, Wallace & Gromit and Ella, Oscar & Hoo. Enjoy films screening exclusively in Utrecht, dive into the worlds of the Korean story of The Satellite Girl and Milk Cow (Hyeong-yoon Chang, 2014, ‘81), delve into the Exploration Station and participate in various workshops. Meet fresh talent from art schools in The Netherlands at the first-ever Young Industry Day.

Then, from November 13-17, Kaboom moves to Westergas in Amsterdam, continuing the celebration of all things animated. The festival will feature premieres, award shows, exhibitions, industry events, international speakers, screenings and parties. Confirmed features include Funan (Denis Do, 2018, 88’), and Annecy winner Away (Gints Zilbalodis, 2019, 74’).  Also confirmed to speak is Mike Hollingsworth, supervising director of BoJack Horseman.
