‘Twilight’ Reboot Series in Development at Lionsgate Television

The project will be penned by ‘Raised by Wolves’ writer Sinead Daly, who has yet to decide if the series will be a direct remake; original novelist Stephanie Meyer is also attached.

In “things we never asked for” news, The Twilight Saga is reportedly getting a series reboot similar to Warner Bros. Discovery’s Harry Potter series.

As announced by THR, the project is already in early development with Lionsgate Television. The series is not yet attached to a network or streaming platform but is sure to start a bidding war when it is ready to shop.

Sinead Daly (Raised by Wolves, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) is set to pen the script and is currently in talks with Lionsgate to decide if the series will be a direct remake or an offshoot. Original novel author Stephanie Meyer is rumored to be attached in some capacity.

The original Twilight series of romance fantasy films tell the tale of outsider Bella Swan, who encounters a family of under-cover vampires when she moves to the eternally gloomy small town of Forks, Washington. She soon becomes entangled with Edward Cullen, who can’t decide if he wants to love Bella, or consume her. Their love sparks dangerous rivalries with multiple different vampire factions (and shapeshifters), who do everything in their power to rip the “young” couple apart.

Original Twilight Saga producer Wyck Godfrey and former Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erik Feig will produce. Feig formerly attained the rights to the Twilight book series during his tenure at Summit Entertainment.
