TV Academy Serves Up Azaria Another Primetime Emmy

Hank Azaria will be awarded this year's Primetime Emmy Award for animation voice over performance for his work on THE SIMPSONS as the bartender character, Moe.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced on August 18, 2003, the selected animation categories winners of the 55th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Juried awards do not have nominations and are selected by members of ATAS' animation peer group, which may choose more than one winner in a category or none.

Azaria earned his latest Emmy for his work in the "Moe Baby Blues" episode of the long-running FOX comedy. Azaria has already won twice in the voice over category and won an Emmy for his supporting performance in ABC's OPRAH WINFREY PRESENTS: TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. He is also up for guest actor in a comedy for his guest-shot on NBC's FRIENDS.

Three winners were selected in the individual achievement in animation category. ATAS has recognized Scott Wills for production design and to Dan Krall for layout for their work on Cartoon Network's SAMURAI JACK. Maciek Albrecht won for his animation of the "Imagine" and "Turn, Turn, Turn" segments of the HBO special THROUGH A CHILD'S EYE: SEPTEMBER 11, 2001.

The juried animation awards will be presented Sept. 13 at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony at the Shrine Auditorium. These are not included in the Emmy broadcast for the mainstream categories to handed out Sept. 21 in a ceremony to be televised on FOX.
