Toy Fair Showcases Speed Racer to Hulk

Toys based on characters from SPEED RACER, THE DARK KNIGHT and WALL-E will be revealed at this weekend's Toy Fair in New York, reports THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

The biggest licensed entertainment hits should be Warner Bros.' SPEED RACER and THE DARK KNIGHT, Lucasfilm's INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL and Marvel's HULK.

SPEED RACER toys have the most buzz, especially with news that an animated TV show will debut on Nicktoons in May, just prior to the film's release.

"It seems like more toy companies have jumped on SPEED RACER than any other property out there," Jonathan Samet, publisher of Toy Book and Toy Insider, told THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. "It's No. 1 from a toy standpoint just because it has the most product out there and because it's new and fresh, especially compared to HULK, BATMAN and INDIANA JONES."

Lucasfilm's announcement this week that an animated STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS feature will be released ahead of the TV series generated excitement about a new line of STAR WARS toys.

Other properties expected to make a strong showing include DreamWorks' KUNG FU PANDA, Marvel's IRON MAN, Disney's THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: PRINCE CASPIAN and Disney/ Pixar's WALL-E.

Toys that correspond to interactive Internet sites with special codes are increasingly popular, and expected to be the biggest trend at Toy Fair.

Toy Fair is an annual conference where toy manufacturers show their new lines to the media, Wall Street investors and retailers.
